De Pere Pantry Food Sort on Saturday

New Hope collects food on an ongoing basis and takes it to the De Pere Food Pantry which is located across the street in St. Anne's Church.  On Saturday the pantry will be receiving lots of food from the Boy Scout's Annual Food Drive and will need help sorting the items when they are delivered.  It's like "backwards grocery shopping" and children are welcome to help also.  If you would like to help sort food, just show up in the early afternoon on October 22nd at St. Anne's and they'll put you to work.

New Pictorial Directories Ready to Be Picked Up!

Our church photo directory is here!  You can pick up your directory starting this Sunday.  We are suggesting a donation of $10 to cover the cost of color-printing.  Steve Kresin has donated hours and hours of time taking the photographs and designing the directory - we are grateful for his help!

What's New In Sunday School?

Children singing
The kids are learning fun songs and sang for us during worship last Sunday.

The next three weeks the kids will be learning about Joseph, son of Jacob, as told in the book of Genesis.

Note:  Our Sunday School hour starts at 10:30 (as soon as the worship service is over the kids head to room 104).  During the Sunday School hour parents are encouraged to either stay with the kids and enjoy learning with them, attend an adult Bible Study being offered at the same time, or to run errands and come back for the children at 11:30.  Confirmation is also offered at the time in case you'd like to sit in and learn more about our Methodist heritage.

Next Order Date for Gift Cards is this Sunday

Think ahead about your purchasing needs and come prepared to order on Sunday  (Oct 23rd)  Groceries, gasoline, restaurants, clothing stores, Amazon, you can get it all here.

De Pere Christian Outreach Seeks Families

Needing Help for Christmas

De Pere Christian Outreach is seeking residents of De Pere and West De Pere School Districts who are in need of help for Christmas.  If you, or someone you know, would like to receive help during the holiday you can register at the De Pere Christian Outreach Store (506 Butler Street) on Saturday, October 29th or Saturday, November 5th between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.

To register bring ID for all adults in the household, verification of the birth dates of all children in the household, income verification.  Also be prepared to provide clothing sizes.

Note:  New Hope will also be working with De Pere Christian Outreach to adopt families to supply food and gifts for those who register.  To adopt a family in need watch for more info the end of November.

Mission a Month - Operation Dry Bottom

New Hope's mission for October is Operation Dry Bottom.  Operation Dry Bottom provides diapers and pull-ups to The Howe Neighborhood Family Resource Center.  The Center works with young at risk families (from prenatal through five years) on parenting and particularly supporting children to reach their developmental milestones so they will be school ready when they are five years old. 90% of their clients are very low income and find it difficult to come up with money to make ends meet, much less to buy diapers and pull-ups. So for the month of October New Hope will be supporting their program "Operation Dry Bottom" by collecting diapers.  They need diapers of all sizes, however the biggest needs are larger diapers (sizes 4 - 6) and pull-ups.  To donate diapers just bring them with you church and leave them in Room 102.

COMING NEXT MONTH - In November and December we will be collecting food for the holidays in addition to the desperately needed cereal, peanut butter, soup and hygienic products.

Single & Parenting Class

Help & Hope for Single Parents

Every Wednesday at 6:45 p.m.logo

If you're a single parent, you're probably tired, overwhelmed and feeling a bit underappreciated. That's why New Hope is sponsoring a  Single & Parenting group - to share tips and parenting wisdom that will help you find rest, hope and encouragement.

Other people don't truly understand how tough it is to be a single parent-day after day after day. Sometimes you want to give up. And that's a normal reaction-you're doing the job of two people. You should be tired.

The thing is, you deeply desire to do what's best for your kids, but you worry that you can't. Sometimes it's all you can do to survive from one day to the next.

So what can you do?

Single & Parenting groups address these concerns. You'll discover how to deal with your deep-down worries and your day-to-day struggles.

At a weekly Single & Parenting group, you'll meet with other single parents to learn and discuss some amazing parenting strategies and hope-filled insights.

The 13-week series meets Wednesdays at 6:45 p.m.  The sessions are all stand alone so participants can join at any time in the series.

Anyone who can benefit is welcome to attend - please feel free to invite friends, relatives and neighbors to come.

More info is available online at singleandparenting.org

DivorceCare is a special weekly seminar and support group for people who are separated or divorced.  It takes a long time and a lot of work to heal the pain that comes with the breakup of a marriage.  DivorceCare is a place where you can be around people who understand what you are feeling.  It's a place where you can hear valuable information about ways to heal from the hurt of divorce.

The 13 week program is designed so that you can begin attending on any week as each session topic stands on it's own.  You can continue attending until you have covered all the topics or until you feel ready to move on.  More information is available at divorcecare.org.
