Sunday's Message

Pastor Greg's Spring Sermon Series:

"What Would Jesus Do? - Basics for How We Live"

Sunday's Message is based on John 14: 1-14

"Jesus Would Know the Right Way When We're Lost"

Hi ,

Wow, it's been fun this past week planning the Mini Bible Camp Days for the children and fun outings for the youth!  This is going to be a summer filled with action as our children and youth grow in the knowledge that Jesus loves them.  Watch for more details coming soon - this is going to be one rockin' summer!

BTW - I ran.  I got weary, but I pushed on thinking and praying for various friends and loved ones while I ran the 13.1 miles in the Green Bay 1/2 Marathon last week.  I am proud to say that I ran it in 2 hours, 6 minutes and 34 seconds which was over 5 minutes faster than last year.  That Isaiah...he's a pretty smart guy and it's nice to have him in my corner.

See you Sunday - I'll save you a seat!

Patti

Memorial Sunday Time of Remembrance

On Memorial Sunday, May 29th, we will have a "Time of Remembering" during worship.  If you have a loved one who has died during the past year and would like to have him/her remembered, please provide us with his/her name, date of birth and date of death, as well as the relationship to you/your family.  Put the information in the offering plate today, mail or drop it at the church office, or e-mail it to office@newhopedepere.com before Wednesday, May 25th so it can be included in the bulletin.

Summer Sunday School Leaders Needed

Sign up for a week, two or more!

We will be offering Summer Sunday School for preschoolers to 8 year olds.  We are looking for some folks who are willing to take a Sunday (or 2 or 3) to provide leadership.  We'll take care of the preparation, just show up a few minutes early so you can be familiar with the plans for the day.  The lesson will consist of a video or story followed by a few discussion questions or a craft.  Click here to sign up today!

Support Our Brat Stand @ Festival Foods
Friday, May 27th - Let's Be Seen In The Community!
Dave and John grilling at our last brat fry
Dave and John hard at work!

Summer is almost here and that means time for grilling and brats at the Festival Foods Brat Stand on Main Street in De Pere.  By working the stand for a day we can raise the awareness of New Hope Church in the community and earn money for our church at the same time.

Please contact Christy Aniol directly by e-mail or by phone at 339-8090 if you'd like to help.

Be sure to tell your friends, family

and co-workers to stop by for a yummy brat!

Training program for Bellin Run/Walk

Training dates are May 22nd and June 5th

Event is Saturday, June 11th

Get out, move more and join New Hope's team for the Bellin Run/Walk!  Our program is designed for ALL ability levels... from the couch to the finish line!

We had a great turn out for our first training session last Sunday as Jim Aniol, RRCA (Road Runners Club of America) certified coach and New Hope member, led the first group training.  The next group trainings here at New Hope will be at 11:30 a.m. on Sundays May 22nd and June 5th.  These group events are designed for ALL ability levels and everyone is welcome - so don't be scared off thinking, "I'm not a runner."  or  "I can't walk that far."  Our goal is promote activity and fellowship while you prepare for an event at your ability level.

(We are also welcome to run/walk with the Green Bay Running Club at Voyageur Park any Saturday at 7 a.m., beginning  May 14th.)

Members can e-mail any training questions that they have to Jim at  runningcoachjim@gmail.com.

HOW TO JOIN THE TEAM:

To register for the Bellin Run click here and when requested select Team Member and then select New Hope United Methodist from the drop down list of teams.  When asked the password is 830.  If you'd like your registration packet delivered to the church the week before, just indicate that you are a friend/family and that Patti is the employee.  (It makes sense on their end and I'll figure it out on our end!)

Ways You Can Help

Want to be of service and wondering where you are needed?

Check out these opportunities!

Sunday School Teachers - Oh, if we all had faith like a child!  Our children are a blessing from God and working with them on a regular basis is a wonderful way to enrich their lives as well as yours.  We need adults and older youth to:

  • Teach in the Sunday School classes each week
  • Plan and implement vacation Bible school for a week this summer
  • Plan "Summer Days" (one themed day each month during June, July & August)

Nursery Volunteers - We are creating a rotating schedule for nursery workers.  Let us know if you are able to serve once or twice during a four month period caring for our little ones during worship.

Scrip Program - we are creating a rotating schedule for people to help out on Sunday mornings handing out previous orders and Scrip to go, and accepting new orders.  Starting the end of May or first of June, we will also need someone to pick up the Scrip orders from St. John Church in Howard between 9 and 11 a.m. and sort them for distribution before Friday noon.  Our Scrip program is an ongoing fundraiser to support our programs and ministries here at New Hope.  Through Scrip, we have raised over $1500 so far!

Please let us know by email or by calling the church office at 964-0143 if you are able to help in any of these areas.

"What Happens When Women Say Yes to God"

Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m.

What if you could wake up every morning with a sense of anticipation? What if everyday moments in your life could be transformed into extraordinary ones? Bible teacher and speaker Lysa TerKerust explores six steps to a transforming spiritual journey. Based on the book and DVD companion, we will share how to experience God in unexpected ways, learn to discern His voice, and make our faith come alive. God can take your willingness to simply say yes and transform that into something truly powerful and beautiful. Something that changes you. Something that changes the world. Are you ready to say yes?

The "Taste and See" Women's Bible Study will be reading "What Happens When Women Say Yes to God" by Lysa TerKeurst for 6 weeks, May 11- June 15, followed by a brunch on June 22.  The groups meets on Wednesday mornings at 9:30- 11:00 and all women are welcome.
