Happy Birthday Pastor Greg!

March 24, 2011

New Hope Logo

Hi ,

Isn't "spring" in Wisconsin crazy stuff?  Holy catfish Batman, WHAT happened yesterday?  What happened to the puddles, the birds and the smattering of green grass that was appearing?  Over a foot of heavy, wet, white snow - that's what happened.  Patience, my friends.  Living in Wisconsin is a lesson in patience.  Just wait.  Spring will be back.

See you in church Sunday, I'll save you a seat!

Patti

Matching Gift Challenge

You Can Help Turn $10,000 into $20,000!

Your gifts in the next month can have a double impact, thanks to a New Hope family that has offered to match every additional dollar given up to $10,000.  (Additional to your annual pledge.)  For instance, if you give $500, we will receive $1,000!  (Patti happens to love this kind of math!)

Mark your gift "Matching Gift Challenge" and just place it in the offering plate.
Lenten Worship and Potluck Dinner

Wednesdays - Dinner at 5:45; Worship at 6:30

Join us for our Midweek Lenten Dinners at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesdays.  The meat will be provided.  If you can help provide other food for the meal or help with set up, click here to let us know.

Following dinner each week, we are offering a Wednesday Worship at 6:30 p.m.  Each worship service is about 35-40 minutes in length.

We will hear a different parable of Jesus each week, and then people will be welcome to share "parables" from our own lives.  Come and join the conversation.

Check out what the Youth have going on!

Sundays  5:30 - 7:00 pm

This week is Contagious Faith!

There are many ways to say "I'm a Christian" without actually saying those words. Having contagious faith means being able to say that Jesus is a part of your life while inspiring those around you.

The Life of Jesus Bible Study

"I don't know enough about the Bible to be in a Bible study!"

Ever feel like you don't know enough about the Bible to be in a Bible study?  Then this class is for you!  The Life & Teachings of Jesus, led by Ruth Hunter, starts with the basics as we learn about Jesus' life, what he did while here on earth, and what he had to say.  The class is at 9:00 and then afterward stay for the 10:30 worship which is now identical to the 9:00 service.
The Prayer Corner

Exploring Prayer During Lent  - WHAT is prayer to you?

We would like to engage you in a special prayer time as a way of observing lent this year.  Each week we will have another opportunity for you to share your prayer life with others.  It will be interesting and a great way to increase our prayer habits as we learn the what, why, when, where and how of New Hope's prayer life.  No one is required to participate, but we urge you to consider reaching out to others in this manner.

This week's question is:  WHAT?  What is prayer to you?  What do you pray about?

You can fill out a sheet in the bulletin and leave it on the back table or click here to send an email.  Feel free to sign it or indicate that you'd like to be anonymous.  We will be posting your thoughts on the Health Ministries bulletin board the church office between now and Easter.  Be sure to take a minute to stop and read what others have to say.

Prayer does not change God, but changes the one who prays.

The function of prayer is not to influence God, but rather to

change the nature of the one who prays.  -Soren Keirkegaard.

Scrip Update
The challenge for April is to use New Hope scrip to buy your groceries and your gas!

How is the Scrip program going?

We have 15 new families using scrip since January 2011.  The total of our rebates in 2010 was $560 (Oct-Dec) and so far in January and February our total is already $580.  We are off to a terrific start this year and more families are using Scrip every week.

Great Lakes scrip center will be closed from April 4-8 for spring break.  Therefore, there will be no order processing from April 1st thru the 10th.  We will process orders Sunday, March 27th and Wed, March 30th at 6pm and encourage everyone to stock up in preparation for this scrip spring vacation.

In addition,  we will have Scrip To Go for both gas and groceries available here at New Hope. Grocery Stores on hand starting in April will be Woodmans, Festival, Copps, Piggly Wiggly, and Austins.  So if you haven't ordered ahead, you can still pick up cards to take with you!

Don't know how to get started?  Sheryl Mielke or Christy Aniol will be available before and after the 9:00 worship service to get you signed up, help you log on and show you how to place an order online. Don't need their help?  Click here for detailed info to get started.  Just give it a shot, you'll find it's easier than you think!
