Hello

Road to Kari's house in Honduras
This is the road to Kari's house in Honduras
Last week's trip to Honduras to visit my Peace Corp daughter was wonderful.  The weather was great, I was able to get my motherly dose of daughter-hugs, the food was interesting to say the least, I got to see Kari in action as she is working to help their community make changes to develop, and my "comfort zone" was certainly stretched a few times.

I was thinking of Pastor Greg's sermon series and it made me think of the path that Kari has chosen.  (For a visual, this is a picture of the "road" to her house.  She lives just up the hill and around the bend.)  She may not have all the comforts that we have here at home, but she is surrounded by a loving host family and community that watches out for her and cares for her.  Our church family here at New Hope is like that too.  I like that.  After-all, what really matters in life isn't stuff.  What really matters is people and our acceptance of each other that comes from our relationship with a loving God.

I'm excited to see you all again on Sunday!
Don't worry, I'll save you a seat.

Patti

By the way - Tim and Rose Markowicz who were involved at New Hope since before day one will be here from Texas this weekend.  Be sure to be here Sunday because they can't wait to see you again!

The yummy-licious, "souper" white chicken chili is back!  Young Hope, our senior high youth group, will be selling it by the quart for you to take home for your enjoyment either during the Super Bowl or for a fast supper that week. You can take home a quart of homemade goodness for a mere $10 and the proceeds go to our youth program.

The youth are also collecting canned goods and/or cash donations to help fight hunger in the greater Green Bay area.  So bring your items along on Sunday to help this worthy cause.
