Greetings!
My daughter Lindsay emailed me with an unusual request this week. It wasn't for a recipe, addresses or phone numbers of relatives, questions about running, or any of the "usual" requests that this mother gets. She is looking for help collecting stickers. Yes, you read correctly. Stickers. My lovely, 25 year old daughter needs stickers.
You see, her new position is with the Minnesota Reading Corps as the Corporate Volunteer Liaison and they have 675 members who read books with kids every day. The volunteers that read to the children give stickers to the students with whom they work. Lindsay is asking if we can help her collect stickers of all shapes, sizes and colors for them to hand out. So if you have any stickers laying around, or are at the store and see some you like, bring them in and I'll get them to Linz and her army of readers. She and her new hubby, Andrew, plan to be here to worship with us on Oct. 31st so we can give them to her then.
I like what John Wesley said... "Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can, As long as ever you can." ...these readers certainly fit that mold when it comes to reading with these kids!
See you Sunday - I'll save you a seat! Patti

| Connecting Couples
Topic for October... Life! |
Are You and Your Relationships Aligned With Your Values?
4:30 on October 17th at New Hope
Connecting Couples will have a dynamic meeting with Life Coach, Toni Loch, as she leads the group through exercises that will help in aligning themselves and their relationships with their values. One of the basics in personal coaching is to identify values, see how we are living them, determine what it would look like if we are living our values and develop plans that honor our values. Tthis will be a great opportunity to reflect and renew. This is a great time to invite friends to join us.

10/10/10 Packer Party & Silent Auction was a great success! |
Thank you for your generous support! The Mission Committee sends you a "WOW" and sincere thank you for your generosity and support at the lunch and Silent Auction last Sunday. After adding up the bids and tallying the proceeds from the lunch the grand total raised was (drum roll please) $1,205.00! Isn't that wonderful? The only downside of the day was the Packer's loss to the Redskins in overtime, but even that didn't dampen the spirits of the day. Thanks everyone! |
| Heartwarmers - Wrapped In Prayer |
Meets Wednesday, October 20th at 7:00 pm
The "Wrapped in Prayer" Heartwarmer's group will meet on Wednesday, October 20th at 7:00 p.m. in room 104 to make quilts and shawls. If you know of someone who is need of a wrap made with love and prayers, contact the church office at 964-0143.

| Video Techs Needed |
This "Tech" task is not so technical
Looking for a way to help out at church but don't like to be in the limelight? Afraid this is a "technical" job and you're not very "techie"? Then this would be a perfect opportunity for you. The video tech job is a behind the scenes task and does NOT require a lot of technical know how. The video techs are the ones who keep the info on the video screens moving and on pace with the service. We'll provide the training, but basically all you need to do is follow the service and push a button a couple seconds before the screen changes.
We need more volunteers for both services. If you think this is something you would be interested in contact the church office by email or by phone at 964-0143

Scrip Is Coming! But...What IS Scrip?
|
Watch for it to launch in October Scrip is "no-selling" fundraising that allows New Hope to raise money based on your everyday purchases. Scrip is a term that means "substitute money" and when you purchase scrip through New Hope, you're purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, gas and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn revenue for our church.
The church buys the scrip at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to families like yours for full face value. The discount - from two to fifteen percent or more - is our organization's revenue which we will use to support programs and ministry right here at New Hope. This is a GREAT way for you to support our church! Watch for details as the program launches later this month.
We are looking for volunteers to help either on a weekly or occasional basis. Sheryl Mielke has volunteered to take leadership on this project and she'll need help! We'll need people to collect and distribute the orders on Sundays from 10 - 10:30 a.m. We will also need help during the week to tally and fill the orders. Please contact Patti if you are willing to help.
