Greetings!

Wow!  My head is spinning just trying to tell you about all the opportunities at New Hope this fall - and it has nothing to do with the fact that I sit on a large ball while working at my computer!

This issue is chock full of classes and programs that are starting, intermingled with mission projects, fundraisers and ways that New Hope is touching the community and the world.  Lots of opportunities for you to get involved!

A full listing of classes and activities was sent last week, including many classes being offered in the area at other United Methodist Churches for you to consider.  Here is a link to the full listing in case you missed it in the Labor Day excitement.

I'm excited about all that we have coming our way and I hope you are too.  God works in our lives in so many ways - it's fun to get involved and discover how he's speaking to and through all of you to touch the lives of others.

We are so very, very blessed.
See you Sunday - I'll save you a seat!

Bring your bike along for a Biking Adventure!
Sunday, September 12th at 11:45 a.m.

A New Hope Bike Trip in 2008
Biking

A New Hope favorite, we will be grabbing our bikes, riding about 4 miles along the scenic East River Trail to Zesty's for lunch.  Weather.com is predicting sunshine and in the 70's - perfect riding weather!  We'll return in time for all Packer fans to get home and watch the demise of Philadelphia later that afternoon.

Need a bike?  Have an extra bike for a friend?  Let Patti know!
It's NOISY this Sunday...
'Daily Bread' kneads your loose change and bills!

The mission committee at New Hope is excited to launchDaily Bread, a local mission directive designed to help relieve hunger and poverty in our area.

As seed money for the program, the children will be passing bread pans among you during the children sermon where you can NOISILY and quietly donate your loose change as well as paper money to this worthy cause.

The first event the group has planned is to provide a meal for more than 60 people at The Freedom House on Sept. 26th.  That same morning our hungry congregation will benefit as well, as Daily Bread plans to cook up extra brats and burgers for you to purchase and enjoy after worship.

Many food items are needed for this event and we'd appreciate your donations of uncooked burgers, brats, hot dogs, buns, fruit, veggies and chips.  A sign up sheet is on the refreshment table or you can email Patti with your donation

Help Needed at De Pere Fall Fest
Saturday, September 18th

New Hope will have a booth once again at the De Pere Fall Fest in downtown De Pere on Saturday, September 18th from 10 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  They are anticipating over 10,000 people to attend which is double last year's attendance! There will be live music, a boat parade on the Fox River, food, a climbing wall, and more.

Andrew Van Drisse on the climbing wall last year.

We need your help to man our booth, hand out balloons and invite others to check out the cool stuff going on here at New Hope!

Email Patti if you can help for a couple hours or all day!  There is also a sign up sheet on the refreshment table.

The more the merrier!

World Religions Class starts Sunday night
Expand your world

In our religiously diverse society it is essential that Christians seek to understand the faiths of others, to know how these faiths are similar to and different from their own faith. This course examines four major world religions, Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam and Judaism describing how they began, some of their essential teachings, and ways in which they differ from and are similar to Christianity. We'll taste foods that are important to their culture and visit their place of worship.

Led by Erich Bacher

Confirmation Orientation on Sept. 26th
Geared for students 8th grade and above

Confirmation is a program where youth learn the essentials of the Christian faith and can have their questions about God answered. Your family does not need a prior membership in any church for your youth to participate - we welcome everyone.

There will be an orientation session for both parents and students on Sunday, September 26th at 11:45 a.m. in room 104.  The Mission team is holding a brat fry that day so plan to support them and eat lunch with us.

The 2010 Confirmation program will meet weekly on Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. starting October 3rd. The program focuses on living your faith and in addition to traditional learning, includes outreach activities such as a mission trip, and serving at a local pantry.

Mission trip - Thursday & Friday, Oct. 28 - 29th (perhaps returning the 30th)
Confirmation Banquet & Rehearsal - Wednesday, April 27, 2011
