Greetings!
My stomach is growling, my hands and feet are cold, outside it's very hot and humid, yadda, yadda, yadda. I can think of all kinds of things to be uncomfortable about, but when was the last time I stepped outside my comfort zone in my faith?
When was the last time I challenged myself to grow spiritually or to serve someone in need whose situation made me feel uncomfortable? It's easy to get caught up in a comfy world and miss opportunities that help us grow.
I've got a great idea! Let's see what we can do together this fall to be uncomfortable. Let's grow and serve spiritually. Let's try it on, give it whirl, challenge ourselves. Let's make the uncomfortable start feeling comfortable.
See you in church - I'll save you a seat! Patti

Sneak peek of bible studies/classes at New Hope this fall
| Great Opportunities to Grow
DISCIPLE - REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE - Participants in this thirty-two-week study will read the major and minor Old Testament prophets, with the exception of Daniel, and will read the thirteen letters traditionally attributed to Paul. To establish the historical context in which the prophets spoke for God, daily reading assignments also draw on the books of Deuteronomy through Chronicles. Led by Dr. Clark Stevens, this class will meet Mondays from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. starting in September and ending in May.
Christianity & World Religions - In our religiously diverse society it is essential that Christians seek to understand the faiths of others, to know how these faiths are similar to and different from their own faith. This book examines four major world religions, Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam and Judaism describing how they began, some of their essential teachings, and ways in which they differ from and are similar to Christianity. We'll taste foods that are important to their culture and visit their place of worship. Led by Erich Bacher, this class will meet on Sunday evenings at 6:00 p.m. starting September 12th.
Other classes and studies are in the planning stages. If there is a particular topic you are interested in or are willing to lead/facilitate a discussion please contact Patti at 964-0143 or by email.
