Health Ministry's
Activity Tree

Our tree is starting to look like it's budding out!  We've logged over 1200 miles so far and I think some of our "usuals" didn't log this week, so I bet they'll catch up with their paperwork next week putting us way ahead!

Way to get active everyone!  I can see it in the bounce in your step.

Be sure to log your walking/running mileage (or the equivalent for other activity**) on the Health Ministries bulletin board this Sunday.

We want our tree to be in full bloom by May, so get busy and get active!

**Count 10 minutes of other activity as one mile.

Greetings!

The activities of Holy Week continue tomorrow night (Thursday) at 6:00 pm with our Holy Thursday Worship with Communion.  We will be recalling how Jesus shared in a Last Supper with his 12 disciples, as we gather at tables of 12 in our worship area to reenact this communion meal.  The room will be gradually darkened as we remember the events leading up to Jesus' crucifixion and death.  Adults and children alike have found this New Hope tradition to be deeply meaningful and I hope you will be able to join us.

Saturday at 10:00 am is our Easter Egg Hunt for children sponsored by Young Hope, the high school youth group.  Be sure to bring your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and neighbors to search for eggs and goodies hidden through out the church.  Any middle school youth or adults who would like to help create the fun are welcome as well.

On Easter Sunday our two worship celebrations will be nearly identical as the Praise Choir and the Praise Team combine to lead music at both worship services, including triumphal arrangements of great Easter songs!  Communion will be served at the 10:30 service only.

We look forward to seeing you; and as always, your friends and family are indeed welcome.

See you in church!

Workshop for Church Leaders
Can You Attend?

A workshop on practical strategies to reach new people and keep them as strong disciples and leaders will be held in Milwaukee from noon on Friday, April 23rd until noon on Saturday, April 24th.  This workshop is designed not only for clergy and staff, but for lay leaders of the congregation as well.

This is an excellent opportunity for us to get fresh ideas and brainstorm ways to grow New Hope.  We are always looking for ways to reach more people and welcome them to our church home.

We have money in the budget to cover your registration fee and hotel costs.

Click here for more information and if you are interested please let Patti
know as soon as possible via email or by calling the church office so we can get your registration in before the price increase on April 9th.

Tai Chi Class Starts Saturday, April 10th
Great for Reducing Stress & Improving Balance

New Hope member Adam Brown will be offering free Tai Chi classes starting Saturday, April 10th at 9:00 a.m. here at New Hope.  The sessions are open to all ages, and Adam would really like to make an impact with the 40, 50, 60+ year old members of the church because he sees that this could be a wonderful opportunity to help people gain strength, flexibility and mobility.

A recent study shows that elders and people with chronic knee pain benefit from Tai Chi because it helps strengthen the muscles and ligaments of the legs.
Tai Chi offers numerous benefits beyond stress reduction, including:

  • Reducing anxiety and depression
  • Improving balance, flexibility and muscle strength
  • Reducing falls in older adults
  • Improving sleep quality
  • Lowering blood pressure
  • Improving cardiovascular fitness in older adults
  • Relieving chronic pain
  • Increasing energy, endurance and agility
  • Improving overall feelings of well-being
