Greetings!
Pastor Greg's sermon this week will be, "The Tough Keep Going and Going and Going" based on Luke 5:1-11. Here are a couple thoughts to ponder as you prepare for worship.
- Do
you ever feel like you are running out of energy?
- What kind of obstacles have slowed you down
or even stopped you?
- How do you find the
strength to keep going and going and going?
I'm sure you'll agree with me that the "Tough Do What" series has been very inspiring.
The retreat was awesome! Check out the pictures below. Many ideas sprang from the weekend and I'm having fun as people keep saying, "Hey, let's do this!" Lots of good things to come and I'm excited. Keep the suggestions coming.
See you in church! Patti

Youth participate in "Souper Bowl of Caring" | |
Our Middle School Youth &
Young Hope (our Senior High Youth) will
be posted at the doors as you leave worship on Sunday
accepting donations of non-perishable food items and cash for the nationwide Souper Bowl of Caring.
All food collected will be donated to our
local Food Pantry and monies will be donated to the N.E.W. Community
Shelter. Through this mission, young
people learn what it's like to make a positive difference in the world-as they
collect food, raise money and volunteer.
Be sure to bring your food items to share with those in need!

LET US WALK (or run) WITH THE SPIRIT... Galatians 5:25
|
New Hope's Heath Ministry encourages you to strive for 10,000 steps a day which is considered an active, healthy lifestyle. To help motivate you, the Spring Challenge has begun! When you come to the church, log the distance you've walked/run throughout the week on the bulletin board located outside the worship area. (Conversion for other forms of exercise is 1/2 hour equals 3 miles.) Every time we fill a sheet we'll add a leaf to the tree. We already have earned our first leaf! So let's see if we can make the tree full of leaves by May! In addition, the Health Ministry will give a newly designed New Hope t-shirt (designed by the youth) to the first 20 individuals who show our Parish Nurse, Amy Powell, proof of registration to participate in a local 2010 run/walk event such as the Cellcom or the Bellin.
Join the fun and get fit!

Update on New Hope's Response to Haiti Disaster
|

Thank you to all who donated to the free will collection that
was taken for Haiti
in the month of January. We collected
$676.00 which was sent to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee On Relief) to help with the many continuing needs for the
people of Haiti.
New Hope is still collecting Health Kits to send to UMCOR. UMCOR is in country and are working to get assistance to the devastated areas.
GBGM is in the process of organizing teams to go to Haiti. New Hope and Russe are looking into the prospects of a joint mission to Haiti in the future, so if this is something you are interested in, please let me know. I'm not sure of the timeframe yet, although I'm sure UMCOR and VIM teams will be there for years to come helping with the aftermath.

Memories from Praying In Color New Hope's 2010 Women's Retreat
|
At the main Praying In Color sessions we opened our minds and hearts to a new of way praying that integrates color and thoughts more so than spoken words.
At the Wrapped in Prayer break out sessoin we learned about Prayer Shawl ministry and plan to encompass it here at New Hope. Sending a handwritten note is NOT a lost art! In the Handwritten Prayer break out session we were able to make note cards. The remaining break out session was Praying in Motion where we lifted up people in prayer while moving and being active. It was a wonderful retreat and a chance to connect with both old and new friends. Be sure to mark your calendar now for next year! JANUARY 28 - 29, 2011
