Greetings!
A couple weeks ago, a 13 year old fellow runner posted on his Facebook page that he had joined the group "No Mom, I Don't Need A Jacket, I'm Going From The House To The Car." I laughed and posted, "Yes, Tanner, you DO need a jacket." Over the years I've taken a mom role with many friends of my children and figure that as a mom I could speak with authority and tease Tanner.
As I've grown up I have not always listened to my mom; however I must say that the biggest percentage of the time I have and continue to do so. I respect her opinion that's for sure.
Pastor Greg's sermon this week, "The Tough Listen to Mom and Jesus" based on John 2:1-12 has my curiosity peaked. I'm looking forward to hearing it. In fact, I'll bet my mom would tell me to be sure to sit still and listen closely!
Info on the fun stuff we have going on this week is listed below. Check it out.
See you in church! Patti

Couples Group Kicks Off Sunday at the Bowling Alley
|
Considering we live in "Football Central" anything referring to 'kick off' usually refers to the favored game utilizing a pigskin. Football is not involved this time, rather we are starting a new group here at New Hope for couples and we'd love to have you join us Sunday (January 17th) for a fun evening of bowling and dinner...minus your much loved and adorable children. Here's the scoop:
For the adults - - Bowling at Willow Creek on Limekiln Road at 5:00
- Cost is $2.75 per game/$1 for shoe rental/plus food of your choice
- Fun! Time to chat with old/new friends!
- We'll brainstorm what this group can do
If you have kids - - FREE child care at New Hope provided by the Youth Groups and adults
- Nutritious dinner
- Games/projects/movie/play time
- Bring jammies/toothbrush if you want them ready for bed when you pick them up
- Drop them off at 4:30
- Pick them up at 7:00
Not a bowler? Does your thumb get sore after one game, like mine? No problem! Come anyway - sit, visit and cheer on the bowlers. Shoot me an email or catch me in church Sunday to let me know if you're coming. Until then, dream about getting a turkey. (Isn't that bowling jargon?)

We Respond to Disaster in Haiti
|
New Hope will take a special offering this Sunday to send to Haiti for disaster recovery following the earthquake earlier this week. UMCOR (United Methodist Committee On Relief) which is organized by our General Board of Global Missions (GBGM) in New York has already sprung into action to get assistance to the devastated areas.
GBGM has been awaiting confirmation that our Volunteer In Mission teams that were in country are okay; however there are still three members of GBGM (including Rev. Clint Rabb who I personally have gone in mission with) whose whereabouts have not yet been confirmed.
GBGM is in the process of organizing teams to go to Haiti in the near future. If this is something you are interested in, please let me know and I'll help you make the connections.
New Hope will also be responding by collecting Health Kits, watch for further details.
