Greetings!
With June comes a burst of activity in the Fox Valley and beyond! Just look at all the cool things (see column to left) that are in this issue. So many reasons get motivated and to be inspired.
These days at Fleet Feet Sports, we take a tremendous amount of inspiration from our No Boundaries participants. A group of people, who decided 8 weeks ago to invest in their health and join us to get moving, working towards successfully completing a 5K!! We're training for the Fox Firecracker on July 4th.
Individually, the participants couldn't be more different; different ages, back stories, values, hometowns. As a group, the common challenges, questions, goals, and motivations have united them. Something about working at your own pace towards a common goal, cheering one another along, sweating (and perhaps swearing), and high-fiving on a weekly basis will do that do you. They're an inspired group. And they've inspired us!
See if something in this newsletter inspires you.
Cheers!

Spotlight--Barefoot Running
| |
We are frequently asked about the Barefoot Running or Minimalist Running phenomenons. At Fleet Feet Sports Fox Valley we have been slow to take a public stance on this issue because there are very valid arguments to many sides of this multifaceted topic.
Our stance? Education.
We're excited by the research that our Vendors are doing and the efforts being made to offer low profile, minimal shoes that will allow people of varying stability needs to *safely* sample this movement.
Not familiar with the movement? Here's a fairly Pro-Barefoot article that came out in the Spring that provides a good overview.
A recent article, however, by Triathlete, Writer, and Coach Matt Fitzgerald offers some important perspective on the subject of the now surfacing Barefoot Running Injuries.
Bottom line, we're not built mechanically equal. Many of us should consider using barefoot running as a tool but not as the exclusive mechanism for training. At Fleet Feet Sports, we're happy to help educate you about your biomechanics and your options.
