"Unsinkable" Wreckage

September 1, 1985 - A joint American/French expedition located the wreck of the Titanic, 370 miles off the coast of Newfoundland at GPS 41.73194°N 49.94583°W. One of the most notable discoveries the team made was that the ship had split apart while sinking, with the stern section lying 1,970 feet from the bow section and facing the opposite direction. There had been conflicting witness accounts of whether the ship broke apart or not. Up until the discovery of the wreck, it was generally assumed that the ship did not break apart.

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. "
