Greetings!

It feels like summer has arrived.  Make yourself some spa water (add thinly sliced lemons, oranges and cucumbers to purified water), grab a book and allow yourself some relaxation time.  Even 15 minutes of downtime can reduce stress.

There are fantastic avocados available now.  If your skin is dry or sun burned, soothe it with an avocado mask.   Mash 1/2 avocado, add 1 T honey and 1 T yogurt.  Mix well.  Rinse your face with warm water and pat dry.  Put a thin layer of mask on your face.  Put two cucumber slices over eyes.  Leave on for 15 minutes.   Rinse thoroughly with warm water and pat face dry.

Enjoy!
Mother Teresa

Reagan

Mother Theresa was an amazing humanitarian.  She spent 45 years ministering to those in need.  Her mission was to care for "the hungry, the naked, the homeless, the crippled, the blind, the lepers, all those people who feel unwanted, unloved, uncared for throughout society, people that have become a burden to the society and are shunned by everyone."

Her open, loving heart is a great example for us all.  There are small ways we can positively affect others, every day.  Sometimes your smile can turn make another person's day.  Let's spread love, peace and hope through the world.

Hot Topic: Enzymes in Skin Care

face maskWhat are enzymes?
Enzymes are used in every cell process in the body. They're considered a catalyst - they cause chemical reactions to happen.  For example, when waste products block the building of collagen, enzymes called collagenase are responsible for breaking down these byproducts.  Enzymes are considered proteolytic. They digest proteins.  In a facial treatment, enzyme powder is mixed with a "wetting" solution to the consistency of pancake batter, and then gently brushed onto the skin.  It must remain moist.  The enzymes dissolve different forms of cellular debris and buildup, leaving the skin soft, clearer and more receptive to any subsequent correction products.

The enzyme formulations combine bromelain (pineapple) and
papain (papaya).  Bromelain is an effective anti-inflammatory agent.  Papain is highly effective in removing keratin.

When meeting new clients, I've noticed unnecessary problems resulting from the use of different enzyme products.  Their skin appears irritated, dry and very sensitive.

Enzymes products must be used carefully under the constant supervision of a Skin Care Specialist, who can make adjustments according to skin type, age and lifestyle.  Using one product with active enzymes is sufficient to maintain nice skin exfoliation.  It may not suit your skin to use an enzyme product every day, and using multiple products can cause skin damage.  We don't want to over exfoliate our skin. We need to be gentle, caring and nurturing.  And remember, skin has its limits to collagen production, thickness, and reaction to the environment.  Love your skin!

In my treatment room I'm offering fresh enzyme peels made from different plants: Green tea, Papaya, Cocoa and more.
It's very effective and available in different strengths, appropriate to your skin type.

I'm also have a highly effective fresh powder with 35% natural fruit mix that can be used on your feet, hands, and any body parts with rough skin. Try it! My pedicures last longer and my skin looks silky.

Everyday foods can ease common ills

fruit Relieve allergies
Bromelain, an enzyme in pineapple, can ease symptoms of hay fever.
Nausea?
Use ginger.  Brew fresh tea from powdered or minced ginger roots.
Stressed?
Next time your buttons get pushed, reach for a banana.  With only 105 calories and 14 grams of sugar, a medium banana fills you up, provides a mild blood sugar boost, and has 30% of the day's vitamin B6, which helps the brain produce mellowing serotonin, getting you through a crisis peacefully.
High blood pressure?
Toss back some raisins.  About a handful raisins contain 1 gram of fiber and 212 mg of potassium.  Polyphenols in grape-derived foods, raisins, wine, and juice are effective in maintaining cardiovascular health, bringing down blood pressure.
Candida?
Garlic contains essential oils that can inhibit the growth of the Candida fungus, the culprit in the pain, itch and vaginal discharge of yeast infections.  Thyme, clover and the essential oils from oranges are also effective fungicides.
Stomach problems?
A study found that sulforaphane, a powerful compound in cabbage, clobbers H.pylori (the bacteria that causes gastric and peptic ulcers) before it can get to your gut, and may even help inhibit the growth of gastric tumors.  For only 34 calories a cup, cabbage provides 3 g of fiber and  75% of the days vitamin C.
Digestive gas?
Chamomile can ease digestive inflammation, spasms, and gas. Steep 2 tablespoons of the herb in 12 oz of very hot water for 20 min, covering the cup to keep the essential oils in the water.  You may have to drink the tea a few times a day for complete relief.
