Auntie Wooly Says:
Auntie Wooly
Dahlings!

June means another trip to Columbus, Ohio for the Fall/Winter TNNA trade show. Kris and Oz will be meeting with vendors, designers, and fellow shop owners, taking classes, and doing everything they can to find the most interesting items to share with you.

This June Oz has once again been asked to
teach Sales and Marketing classes to our fellow shop owners. We're grateful to be able to help our fellow independent yarn shops from all over the world.

It's always exciting to see what starts to show up after the show. There are always some great surprises.

Until next time... Happy Stitching, My Dears!

Wide Shot Inside Our new home

We're pleased to announce we're now at 4210 Bridge Street.
We're at the corner of Bridge and Main, next door to Wildwood (All those fabulous hats!), two doors down from Linn's. Our entrances are on Main street or at the parking lot next to the building.

It was a long day, exhausting and a little bittersweet. We look at the old space now and imagine 34 years of stories. We've heard some, but we're sure there are many.

So, what does it look like now? Click here for some pictures!

Triple the space. Beautiful flooring, new display fixtures, and two walls of windows makes our place a welcome new location for fiber fans from around the world.

Stop by when you can, we'd love to show you our new home!

Flying Car Flying with Needles
Since it's summer, the season when many of us travel and many will travel by air, we thought we'd talk briefly about flying with your projects.

The first thing to know is that in the US the TSA says YES. Yes, you are allowed to bring your needles onto the plane. Click here for the link to the TSA site.

"Knitting needles are permitted in your carry-on baggage or checked baggage.

Items needed to pursue a Needlepoint project are permitted in your carry-on baggage or checked baggage with the exception of circular thread cutters or any cutter with a blade contained inside which cannot go through the checkpoint and must go in your checked baggage."

We caution you that every gate and every airport has the right to refuse anything they deem a risk. We've never had an issue, but one of our guests shared a great idea. Along with your project and your Addi Interchangable sets, bring a stamped, self-addressed envelope. That way, if the gate refuses to allow you to bring your needles, scissors, or anything else on the plane, clip the cables onto the supplied connector to function as a stitch holder, pop the proscribed item into the envelope, and hand it to someone in charge at the gate to mail to you. We thought that was a great solution!

Happy Stitching!

Scarecrows Scarecrows!
October in Cambria means Scarecrows! Every years, hundreds of scarecrows can be found all over our little corner of California. If you haven't seen them, click here for the Cambria Scarecrows web site. This year, we think Auntie Wooly (Woolamena Purl LeSkeincreaux being her full name, of course) needs a new outfit and we'd love to have you join in the fun!

The needle arts is so often defined by community. While we all work on our own projects as a rule, it's so much better to feel a greater connection to our fellow fiber fans. Our plan this year is to create a dramatic jacket for our beloved Auntie made up of squares connected to make an artistic, community driven piece. So, we'd LOVE it if you would join us in creating Auntie's new look. The squares (Which can be circles, triangles, octagons, whatever makes you happy!) can be any size or shape, out of any fiber you choose. Auntie will be standing outside for a month, so this may not be the perfect project for that skein of Cashmere you've been saving, but we'll leave that up to you. Any pattern is also fine. Felted pieces are also more than welcome! It's a great excuse to burn up some of that stash you want to get rid of. If you're in the area and want to knit a piece, stop by and we'll give you some yarn to work up! And, to get you started, click here for some simple and FREE Knit and Crochet patterns!

We also think she needs slippers and a cat. We'd love it if someone would want to knit slippers, and someone to knit a cat. There's a book called "Knit Your Own Cat" that we have that is just too fun but we're open to any pattern you may want to use! If you're interested in working on the cat or the slippers, please let us know. We will supply the yarn and the pattern.

Everyone that participates will get recognition, so be sure we know you gave us a square!
