Spring/Summer TNNA Round-Up

Hello all! Yes, it's been a bit since our last newsletter, but we've been busy as, well, someone that's very busy. We're just back from our Spring/Summer trade show which was in Phoenix this year, a new location for the show. Hang in there, it's a long report!

We go to these industry shows for so many reasons, and among them are the educational opportunities. It makes for long days but is definitely worth it! We're excited to report that Oz was invited to teach classes this time. The response seemed good and he hopes the wonderful people that took his classes came away with some new ideas to better serve our fiber community.

While we meet with most of our major vendors prior to the show in order to receive items as soon as possible - sometimes even prior to their announcement - we scour the show floor looking for new, exciting, and great value items for us all!

So, let's talk about some new, fun things! Not all these yarns are in as we write this, but most of them will be here shortly! Check our Facebook, Website, or Ravelry page for notices about arrivals!

Yes, Brown Sheep is arriving at the Ball & Skein & More! We had a lovely visit with them and we're so happy to be bringing this value-priced, quality, US-Made yarn from a 100+ year old family farm to our corner of California. We've had so many requests to bring this in, we're overjoyed to have it in the shop. Such wonderful folks and so committed to bring us quality products at a reasonable price. And to answer an oft-asked question, there is no brown sheep, the farm was founded by Harlan Brown and is now run by his daughter, Peggy Jo Wells. Now you know!

Alchemy YarnAlchemy Yarns
Meet Gina and Austin Wilde of Alchemy Yarns. To say they're creative, warm, and fun to be around is a major understatement. Gina creates the unique designs and hand dyes each and every skein of yarn they've ever shipped for over 10 years! Austin, in addition to being the man on the phone and the one who makes sure all the business gets attended to, was also a star of the fashion show put on by TNNA! Rest assured, he did great and had a great reception. Perhaps a new career?  Anyway, we're bringing in two new yarns and a fabulous new color pallette based on Gina's recent visit to Vietnam they introduced at the show.

Frog Tree
While we've carried a few patterns and a small set of sock yarns from them we're so excited to be expanding our support of this amazing company! They're a non-proft based in Massachusetts that brings us beautiful yarns from Peru and Bolivia. A favorite of Cat Bordhi, Frog Tree has beautiful, easy to knit and crochet patterns, soft delicious yarns, and all of the proceeds go to support co-ops in Bolivia. Such wonderful yarns, and an amazing story! More details in future newsletters!

ShiBuiShibui
Pronounced "Shih-BOO-ee", the word is Japanese for "elegant with a touch of bitterness". Perhaps difficult to pronounce, but so beautiful to work with. A truly fashionable yarn, this Ravelry favorite is design focused with a strong hint of women's designer Eileen Fisher, one of our favorite 'ready to wear' looks. Books and yarn coming very soon!

ColinetteWith Kris is none other than Sam, son of legendary hand-dyer Colinette. Yes - THAT Colinette! In his own words "We're back!" Yes, we who love this yarn knew it hadn't gone away but it was so great to spend some time with Sam and hear all the exciting plans he has to delight all of us. So many stories over a fabulous dinner in Phoenix. We'll share more later, but he did explain how he names the colors (What did Vatican Pie mean again?) and we also think he has a little more understanding of American Football. (Go Pats!) We got him into a cab where he set off to meet friends in Las Vegas before heading back to Wales. He's a man that loves to travel, so we're sure to see him again!

addiAddi has just released the addi Click Lace - Long Tips kits!

Each addi Click Lace - Long Tips kit features 8 pairs of addi Lace tips in approximate US sizes 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11, along with 3 pliable blue addi-Lifeline Cords which create 24", 32", and 40" needles (approximate lengths), 1 Click connector, needle gauge, and a gold addi heart pin. The addi Click Lace - Long Tips are just over 5 inches in length (nearly 2 inches longer than the basic Lace Click tips), which will benefit those knitters who prefer a longer tip. As a bonus, the new kit is housed in an eye-catching hot pink case, which is sure to turn heads.

The addi-Lifeline Cords were created to allow knitters to work a lifeline in to their projects, quickly and easily. Each cord features two threadable eyelets on each end, near the tip connections, through which a waste yarn can be run. When not in use, the eyelets remain closed so as not to interfere with one's knitting. Those that have tried them, love them! They're on order, should be here before too long!

Rowan Nashua goes away
We're so sad to see the name Nashua leave the yarn biz. The great news is Nashua Creative Focus Worsted lives on as Rowan Creative Focus Worsted! Not all of the colors made the cut but we're still carrying every color they make!

Sadly, the other Nashua yarns have been discontinued so on our site are all the Nashua yarns that are left at the old pricing.

Click here to see the new Rowan and the new pricing! (There's always a new price, right?)
