Auntie Wooly Says:
Dahlings! A Stitches West has come and gone, and our own Oz was there with our good friends from Laurel Hill and O-Wool! Oz had his back go out, so he was seen hobbeling around the show with his cane while the guys from Laurel Hill did all the actual work! Thanks guys!
We do want to thank everyone that stopped by our little, very busy corner of the show!
Till next time, Happy Stitching! Auntie W.

Spring Arrives!
For those of us in California spring is here, despite the chilly weather we've been experiencing lately in Cambria. Flowers are in bloom, asparagus is at the farmers market, and we're getting our first shipments of new yarns! We'll start with Qiviuk (pronounced kiv-ee-uk or kiv-ee-ut), the downy undercoat from the Musk Ox, an animal that's been roaming the Arctic for 600,000 years. Known by the native population as Oomingmack (The Bearded One), every spring their downy undercoat begins to show and molt and is collected by the native people where it is then processed and spun into the softest, warmest, most amazing fiber we've ever seen. In stock now we have it in natural brown as well as red, green, eggplant, and blue. We also have small amounts of roving! It is such a beautiful, unique, and precious fiber, we're so happy to be able to bring it to you.

Rowan, one of the storied names in the world of fiber, has released Rowan Knitting and Crochet Magazine 49. Within these beautiful pages is this gorgeous piece by Big Sur native Kaffe Fassett. Made of two yarns, Kid Silk Haze (silk/mohair) and Summer Tweed (silk/cotton), it's a simple knit of luscious colors. What's the Value?
We have a philosophy about fiber work. Generally speaking, we're big believers in good tools and quality materials. We're also big believers in value. We see people struggling with projects on poorly made needles and yarns that are just not as rewarding to work with. When one considers the amount of time we live with these projects, don't we owe it to ourselves to choose a yarn that really feels good in our hands and on the needles and even more importantly when we're finished with our projects? When one looks at the cost of a project - $38 for a multi textured scarf, $190 for a hand dyed throw, or $250 for a hand knit sweater made from luxurious materials - and then factor in the fun in putting them together, these pieces really make great values!
