TNNA Follow-Up

Columbus
We're recently back from our trip to our Fall/Winter TNNA Trade Show in Columbus, OH. We had a great time, walked a million miles, met some great people, took some amazing classes, and searched the aisles for new exciting things for us all to enjoy! We met with a lot of the major companies before the show to get all the newest before everyone else saw it at the show, but there are always some small, wonderful things. They'll be arriving throughout the summer and into the fall! Stay tuned!

Logo Celebrate Independents Day!
Yes, it's our National Holiday of Independence in the US, and Canada Day for our neighbors to the North, but we also want to celebrate your Local Independent Retailer. The best independently owned businesses are the backbone of our communities, providing local services, local jobs, contributing financially through taxes and charity work, and basically operate as good neighbors. So, as we all enjoy the fireworks, the parades, the cookouts, and the general celebrations of this historic event, pause a moment and think about the shops (Like ours we hope!) that you enjoy and feel are a positive part of your life. Stop by, say hello, drop them a line, let them know they're important to you. Believe us, they'll appreciate it.

Logo Rowan and Amy Butler!
NEW from Rowan, the designs of renown designer Amy Butler and her new DK and Aran weight organic yarns! Beautiful, soft, very 'knittable' yarns with unique, modern designs. The yarns, in a wide variety of beautiful colors, are 50% organic wool, and 50% organic cotton. Come see these new exciting things for yourself!

Noro Noro Cotton?
Yes indeed. They make some wonderful cotton based yarns! Most people associate Noro with their wool based yarns, in particular Kuryon (100% wool) and Silk Garden (A wool/silk blend) but they also have some delicious cotton/silk blends that are beautiful and just wonderful to work with. As a matter of fact, we used Furisode, a chunky cotton/silk blend, to create a sleeve for our new iPad! It's a free pattern, available at the shop, or free at Ravelry! Click here to download! or send us an email and we'll send it to you!

Harrisville Interested in Weaving?
Intimidated by all the options? Maybe the kids want to make some potholders or simple scarves. Well, wish no more, we've brought in kits from Harrisville Designs! Simple to use, they come with everything you need to get up and running! They've been spinning yarn in Harrisville, NH since 1794! They're a small family owned business set in the Monadnock Highlands of southwestern New Hampshire. We've visited there often, and Kris has even taken residential weaving courses at the mill. Come by and see these fun and very useful kits made in the US by a true traditional New England company!

Magazines Magazines!
Yep, in addition to the ever changing array of books we get in, we're now stocking your favorite magazines! Spin-Off, Wild Fibers, Interweave Knits, Crochet, Vogue Knitting and more - they're all here or they're coming!

Thanks again
As always, we're so grateful for everyone that has become such a part of our new lives in California. Our wonderful staff, Carl and Felicia, the wonderful women that worked here before us and helped make the Ball & Skein the unique place it's been for so long, and of course, the fabulous people that come in and make our little shop a small part of their lives. Thank you all.
