Swatching
Ok, nobody LOVES swatching, but if you're knitting a garment or something that has shaping or needs to fit, the lowly swatch is your friend.
For a successful swatch, knit a 5" square in order to measure a 4" swatch as your guage will typically be different at the edges. For best results, it's also a good idea to wash and block your swatch to see what happens with the yarn after your garment is finished.
While many of us love surprises, we don't want them when it comes to sizing a beautiful knitted garment!

Wait a Cotton-Pickin' Minute!
Or rather, don't wait! Summer is upon us at last and we have a large array of wonderful summer yarns in the shop! Cotton/Rayon blends from Blue Heron, Tahki Stacy Cotton Classic in a wide array of colors, Noro Cotton/Silk blends, Misti Alpaca Cotton/Silk, Knit One Crochet Too Ty-Dy Cotton, EcoButterfly Organic Undyed Cottons, Manos del Uruguay Cotton Stria as well as their New-for-Spring "Serena" - a beautiful combination of Baby Alpaca and Cotton, Cotton Tapes from Colinette, Sprout - Organic Machine Washable Chunky yarn from Classic Elite, Debbie Bliss Eco Baby - yet another organic yarn, Patagonia Cottons from Chile, and we're sure there's more here, but you'll have to come look! We also have Hemps, Linens, Lace Weights, Silks... well, you get the idea, we have a LOT of yarns in the shop that are perfect for those warm weather projects! Ok ok, we know there's not 8 days in a week, but it is a great Beatles song! What we're trying to say is The Ball & Skein & More is now open 7 days a week! Yep, thanks to our fabulous staff, we're now able to open 7 days a week from 10 - 5 for all your Fiber needs!

 TNNA Fall/Winter
Summer may be upon us for the shop, but in the yarn and fashion world, we're now setting our sights on Fall and Winter yarns, can you believe it? Kris and Oz are off to Columbus, OH on June 10th to the annual Fall/Winter trade show in order to find the newest unique yarns and products available. In addition, they'll be taking classes on a variety of topics so will come back tired, exhausted, but full of new ideas for all our Fiber Friends! And yes, the shop will be open, so don't hesitate to stop by!

On Friday June 18th, we're participating in the Cambria Business Showcase from 2 - 4:30 at the Vets' hall in the West Village. As part of our display, we'd love to feature your work! So, send us a photo of a project or projects you'd like us to feature and we'll add it to our electronic slide show! Don't know how? Bring it in and we'll take the picture!
