Knitting with finer yarns
Not just for socks, finer yarns on smaller needles can yield great results on all kinds of garments.
Many people are concerned about knitting garments with finer yarns on smaller needles due to the time or complexity involved. While we certainly understand that, after all who doesn't want to see the thing we're working on finished as quickly as possible, working with a smaller (DK or finer) yarn can have great benefits.
Working with finer yarns can yield better drape, more defined structure, and better fit without bulk. Smaller yarns also allow the knitter to use a wider array of techniques, such as cables, eyelets, color and other enhancements.
If you haven't tried a project with finer yarns, start with something like a vest, a shawl, or even a scarf to see some of the benefits of finer yarns!
Happy Knitting!
