September 2012                 Helping Neighbors in Need in Sandy Springs & Dunwoody Since 1987
Community Responds to Help Neighbors
UPS
UPS was one of many  businesses, congregations, civic groups, families and individuals who gave food in August and September .

A call for food donations in August to help restock the nearly-bare CAC Food Pantry was met with a generous response by the community. The donations have enabled CAC to continue to give food to local families and individuals in need. Some of the donors include: Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church, Dunwoody United Methodist, North Atlanta Chuch of Christ, The Benson Senior Center, Sandy Springs Christian Church, Lutheran Church of Resurrection, National Charity League, Rivercliff Lutheran, Girl Scout Troop 3454, Whole Foods, Galanti & Company and UPS. A Hand Up for Working Families

Nancy is a single parent with two children. She came to CAC for assistance with her rent when her unemployment benefits ended. The day of her interview at CAC she got a new job offer, however the pay would be less than what she received from unemployment. She took the job but continued to look for a better paying job. Months later when CAC followed up on her situation she had found a better paying job and moved into a less expensive apartment to cut expenses. To help make ends meet she continues to get food and clothing from CAC. Her children were also recipients of CAC's Adopt-a-Family holiday program. She is grateful to CAC for helping her make it through difficult times.

CAC is Community

I want to thank for your generous response to our SOS for food in August when our shelves were bare. Your generosity helps close to 500 families every month.

Soon we celebrate 25 years of service at our Vintage Affair benefit. We look forward to seeing you there and celebrating all that this community has done to make a difference in Sandy Springs and Dunwoody.

On a sad note, this month we lost a friend and client of CAC, Ms. Lanzhen Pan. She was a Chinese emigrant who took English classes with us. A senior citizen who didn't drive, Ms. Pan was killed in a tragic pedestrian accident on Roswell Rd near CAC. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.
