CAC Summer Programs Focus on Kids
                   Seeking Groups to Get Involved

You can help a child this summer with CAC! Our summer programs send children to camp, provide summer lunches and give backpacks with school supplies to local children in need.

Groups are needed to hold drives to collect and pack summer lunches or school supplies, or raise funds for camp scholarships.

Visit our website for details on each program at www.ourcac.org

St. John Food Donation Significant

project feed 2012

A large food drive and packing project by St. John United Methodist Church resulted in thousands of meals for local families. Project Feed 5000 is a Lenten project in which the congregation strives to collect and package 5000 meals. This year 195 boxes were packaged containing 7020 meals! Each box holds enough food for a family of four for three days, or 36 meals. St. John collected 156 boxes and this year the Riverwood High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes contributed 39 boxes. This is the largest St. John Project Feed donation to CAC to date, with 6000 meals in 2010 and 5000 meals in 2011.

Appreciating Volunteers
volunteer lunch 2012
Long-time volunteers were thanked for their service including Eilleen Epstein, left, Mitzi O'Connell and Pat Hartigan with CAC Executive Director Tamara Carrera.

CAC volunteers were thanked for their time and dedication this month during our volunteer appreciation week at CAC and the annual volunteer appreciation lunch. In 2011 our more than 200 "regular" volunteers logged more than 20,000 hours at CAC! This doesn't include time from Second Helpings volunteers who deliver food to CAC daily and the many volunteer groups from schools, businesses and civic organizations. These combined efforts enable CAC to assist thousands of our neighbors in need every year. Thank you for your service!
