Dandelion-blue sky A Note To My Friends
Many of my friends know there is a special story in my life that I like to call "The Dandelion Story."  I want to share it with all of you....
I was at a retreat once, and we were asked to write how each of us was feeling at the time. It wasn't a particularly joyful time in my life, and I wrote that I felt like a "dandelion" ... more of a weed than a flower, one you would probably rather not have in your yard.
At the end of the retreat, they brought in people from the outside who had been our anonymous "prayer partners" throughout the weekend. As this woman, a stranger to me, approached, I remember thinking how special it was that someone had been praying especially for me. She handed me an envelope and said, "I've been praying for you, and I hope you've had a good weekend."
I opened that envelope and found a card inside. On the cover was a picture of a single dandelion in its fuzzy stage. I got chills. I opened the card and read the words, "Never Stop Growing."
That card had an impact that changed my life forever. It helped me see that what I thought of as a weed is one of the strongest wildflowers that God ever created. You can mow them down, pull them out, chop them off.... But they always come back. Not only that, they spread their seeds and grow more dandelions!
At that moment, I knew that God had a message for me. No matter whatever happened in my life, I would always be a stronger person because of it. I also knew I was to take the gifts and experiences that He blesses me with and share them with others.
That's why I'm sharing this story with you now. I want you to always remember that no matter what may mow you down in life, God created you and planted you right where you are. He'll see to it that you grow back even stronger than you started. We all need to share the seeds of our faith and our life experiences with others -- it's how we help one another grow. We are all wildflowers in God's garden, and wildflowers are true survivors.
I am grateful for all of the opportunities God has given me to grow and for all of the wildflowers He sprinkles in my journey along the way.
I wish you all a safe and blessed summer.
                                                                               Sincerely in Christ,
                                                                               Michelle Barone
