"Selecting Art for Exhibitions" with Hank Foreman 4/23/2010, Noon Hank T. Foreman, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Arts and Cultural Affairs and Director and Chief Curator, Turchin Center for the Visual Arts, Appalachian State University, will discuss the curatorial and judging process and will also talk about the Turchin Center's upcoming exhibition of contemporary art from Mexico.

AAWS Staff needs regular volunteers to assist with mailings, greeting guests (docent services), and keeping up with daily chores. Volunteering is a wonderful way to get involved,meet other artists, and help maintain a successful organization for everyone! Best of all - volunteering is easy! Bring a book or artwork to work on. For school credit or just for fun. Contact us for more info!

Drawing Circle Saturdays, 10AM - Noon in the AAWS Gallery. No sign up or fee - just drop by. Open to any artist, all skill levels, who wish to practice drawing.

Call for Entries: Davidson Co. Community College Fall Show 2010. Slides/cds of original artwork in all media are now being accepted through June 1 to be exhibited in the Mendenhall Building, DCCC, Lexington, NC from August 17 to December 10, 2010. Relay for Life is seeking volunteers to do face painting for kids during Relay for Life on May 15th. Contact: Marshika Stewart Work - 631-7632 Cell - 416-6002
Artists Booths Available: On Saturday, May 22, from 11am-2pm, Reynolda Manor Shopping Center is having a "Meet Our Local Heroes & Support Our Troops!" event. This event is free and open to the public. We will have local fire fighters, police officers, high school ROTCs, and current and retired military in attendance. There will also be vendors, kid's activities, food, and music. If you would like to be a vendor at this event, please e-mail sarah@firstinflightentertainment.com or call 336-924-7028.

Salute! Wine Celebration
Volunteers work for a two hour shift in several different positions and receive a free admission ticket to Salute! and a t-shirt.
