Hello Friends,
October in New England really can't be beat, and we have a cornucopia of exciting things to talk about this month.
To start off, we hope that you are planning to attend the Monadnock Community Market Co-op's (MCM Co-op) first Annual Meeting, on Saturday, October 15th, from 1-4 pm at Heberton Hall. Bring family, friends, and a lot of enthusiasm! There will be contests and games, along with the opportunity to learn more about plans for our building, and candidates for our Board of Directors.
In member news, you will notice that we are only 21 member-owners shy of 800, our most recent goal, which leaves us incredibly close to our goal of 1,000 member-owners by the time we open our doors. To help us get there, we're asking you to help us spread the word. We will be releasing a new template that you can distribute to family and friends electronically, and we will be unveiling a new promotion next week.
Finally, we will be announcing our groundbreaking soon. We are in the final stages of planning and design, and with a new General Manager coming on board, we're looking forward to moving some earth and getting our store ready for shopping, educating, and community-building.
Thanks as always for your support, love, interest, and continued efforts. We'll see you all on October 15th! Yours cooperatively, Monadnock Community Market Co-op Locally owned. Locally grown. Locally eaten.

Savor Our Seasons:
Pumpkins &
Other Winter Squashes
By Liza Drew, Keene State College Dietetic Intern
Flavorful Fact: Do you remember the canned pumpkin shortage a couple years ago? It turns out that Illinois, which grows about 95% of America's canned pumpkin had too much rain and not enough sun, destroying a year's worth of pumpkin crops. Pumpkin demand has also increased due to its high content of vitamins and antioxidants such as beta-carotene. Coveted cans of pumpkin were selling for eight dollars online! Why not buy local pumpkins and make home-made pumpkin pie this year? Read more. Try these Recipe:
