Thank You!
Since the co-op is a community initiative, we want to take the time to thank community members for contributing their time, skills and passions to the Monadnock Community Market.
Thank you to Bonnie Hudspeth for serving as Project Manager since Fall 2010. Bonnie started working on the Co-op as a graduate student and volunteer in 2008, laying the groundwork for the MCM Co-op. THANK YOU BONNIE for your dedication and inspiring spirit. |

Hello Friends,
This month we want to celebrate Bonnie Hudspeth, as August is her final month as project manager. Bonnie is the original driver of the MCM Co-op - working on the project since 2008 - steering it from an idea to a well-organized, incorporated, and community-focused business that will open in 2012. Many of you likely joined because you met Bonnie, heard her on the radio, or interacted with her in other ways.
So the next time you see her, be sure to thank her for getting us where we are today, and for sparking what will grow into an incredible downtown business in the Monadnock Region for years to come! Asked to say a few words, Bonnie said:
"After an amazing 4 years working to help our Co-op come to life, I am excited to pass on the torch to our future General Manager. Our Co-op has come so far, and it has been such an honor to serve as Project Manager and witness our Co-op's growth. I am so excited for our groundbreaking, first Annual Meeting, and to celebrate together when we open our doors next year!" -Bonnie Bonnie will be working this month to train Jess Gerrior-Baribault, her replacement as Project Manager, to ensure a smooth transition until we hire our first General Manager. A huge welcome to Jess! What else is happening with the MCM Co-op? First, we are so close to reaching our summer goal of 800 Member-Owners. So if you have friends, family, co-workers or neighbors who are still on the fence about joining, please put in a good word for us, and send them this email explaining the benefits of joining.
Finally, we are in the process of hiring a General Manager. This will be an incredibly important position going forward, as our first GM will have a lot to do with how the store looks, feels, and operates when it opens.
Thank you for your ongoing support - we are almost there!
Yours cooperatively, Monadnock Community Market Co-op Locally owned. Locally grown. Locally eaten.

Savor Our Seasons:
Blueberries
By Liza Drew, Keene State College Dietetic Intern
Flavorful fact: The bright blue pigment in blueberries is called Anthocyanin, and is a powerful antioxidant. It has such a strong color that the Shakers used to paint their homes with a mixture of blueberry skins, sage blossoms, indigo, and milk. Blueberry season is here, and with it comes sticky blue fingers and endless blueberry recipes to try. Wild blueberries grow abundantly in New Hampshire and offer a sweet reward to hikers, canoeists and kayakers.
