More and more companies are creating community programs that engage their employees' talents on a volunteer basis.  The benefits are many.  for one, the employee feels good about making a difference.  This goes a long way when it comes to attracting and retaining talent.  Also, a volunteer employee can further develop in areas of interest that are missing in his/her current role.  Such opportunities increase employees' level of fulfillment with their career and life.  A happy employee is a productive one.

Help kids be active for life.  Support Gymnastics Canada.

SGCCIn 2003, I had the fortune of sitting in a leadership forum filled with Doctors and Preventive Oncologists who made it real clear to me that most cancers can be prevented by living a healthy life. Prior to that I had wasted years believing in fear that most diseases are genetic. After all, I had seen my share of deaths from disease.  With this refreshing new information and the start of my business, I committed to dedicating my talents to work that is meaningful and purposeful.  Helping kids develop a healthy lifestyle struck a chord with me because of the rise in child obesity and its consequences (refer to Active Healthy Kids Report). So, I began my work with Gymnastics Canada, a client I picked up from my former employment.

What about gymnastics? Gymnastics has been recognized as a foundation sport for all sports by the International Olympic Committee and Sport Canada.  This means that children learn fundamental movement patterns, such as balance and coordination; they learn to use their core strength and center of gravity.  This is beneficial when participating in any other sport.  And, this explains the growth in participation in the sport of gymnastics.  Gymnastics programs exist for all ages and levels of abilities (see Long Term Athlete Development).

How you can help.

Sponsor me in 5k run for Gymnastics in Canada!

Come, cheer and watch gymnastics Champions perform!
