Greetings!

Top3I recently was invited to offer a Work Life Balance Group Coaching session during a client's Health & Wellness Week.  This client inspired me to offer the same to your organization and to dedicate this issue to Work Life Balance.

Work Life Balance - A Morale Booster

balanceAs I rode the TTC to get to my appointment, I picked up the Metro News and read about another recent study citing low morale as a big problem in this economic climate. 70% of the 219 Canadian workplaces surveyed reported morale issues as their biggest challenge at this time. Being a coach, a former corporate employee and entrepreneur, I can relate to this challenge from every perspective, that of the employee's and the employer's.

This is precisely the time when my coaching can help my clients and my own business ride this turbulent time.  The economic climate is what it is.  Given this, I focus on what I can do.  Doing so is a choice, a healthy one.

In a recent group coaching session at a client's, I went over some of the stress management tips I offered you in previous issues, and we practiced some breathing/meditation exercises.  This helped ground the group before it was asked to assess its whole life and its interconnected parts.  By moving the focus to one's whole life and all its parts, each participant started to see that their life was more than their career and that there are other parts of their life that are very important (see Wheel of Life Exercise below). Paying a little more attention to those important parts of their whole life and filling the gaps can create more fulfillment.  With more fulfillment comes a smoother ride through life; a definite boost to employee morale because we bring our whole life wherever we go.

You can read the article in the Metro News by going to the Quick Link on Employee Health News.
