A September
2009 Prophetic Prayer Strategy for America:
A Better HOPE
In
the election cycle of 2000 I had the privilege of being tapped by the Lord to
intercede for the campaign of George W Bush.
About ten days into the election result stand-off, I received a
prophetic word regarding W and a former affiliation that was, in the second
heavens, holding up the works. As I did
not know President Bush, I was a bit vexed about how this word would be
delivered. Early on the eleventh day of
my consecrated intercession Holy Spirit said, "E-mail Stephen Strang at
Charisma. I did and my e-mailed
prophetic word was the fourth of its kind to come into the magazine.
My
personal call to arms in the 2004 election cycle was vastly different and I was
called to focus on Kingdom things and pray at a distance for the election.
My
daily prayer was, "Lord, please give us a President that looks more like
YOU than the collective consciousness and spiritual condition of the hearts of
Americans. Grace abounded.
In
the latter half of the 2004 election cycle I was blessed to be the Prayer
Coordinator for PA and I had an open door to speak prophetic words to the
campaign. Again, Grace abounded.
During
the 2008 election cycle I felt very little personal call to intercede, write
about the election, or campaign. That's
just me. I prayed for Senator McCain as
I had prayed for President Bush in elections past. I also prayed for the country---that our
President would be a reflection of heaven and of Christ- likeness, rather than
of the condition of the hearts of Americans.
Today,
looking back on my 2008 prayer strategy and the results of the election I say
with all sobriety: the former Grace lifted.
Some
folks call this judgment. I do not. I have such an utter God-confidence and Hope
in Jesus, and such a pervasive experience of perfect grace and love that I am
not personally attenuated to see judgment everywhere. I see Jesus.
I see His sobriety over the state of affairs in the United States---and
still I see grace and hope available to us individually and collectively.
I
am anchored in His unchanging nature. He
is good. He is the Grace that abounds in
times like these when sin much more abounds.
Today,
the anointing for intercession on my life looks very much different from most
others--or the way in which many others are responding to the anointing to
intercede. As mired in muckedy-muck this
country is, I am committed to pray the apostolic words of Paul to Timothy:
"I exhort
therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and
giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in
authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and
honesty. For this is good and acceptable
in the sight of God our Savior." 1
Timothy 2:1-3
I
pray that every day.
Never
in our history have the aforementioned leaders needed our prayer more
desperately!
An
elitist, 'we know what's good for you even if you are too dumb to know what's
good for you' attitude has overtaken Democratic Washington. I discern a spirit of arrogance. Worse yet, I discern a deaf and dumb spirit
that came behind the spirit of arrogance that likes to remain unchallenged.
I need grace to withstand one more arrogant comment from Nancy Pelosi.
Several times each week I see her in the media telling America that she
knows what's good for us---we have not the intelligence to deal with issues as
big and lofty as Health Care Reform.
Pray for Ms. Pelosi. Ask the Lord
to give her a calm and quiet spirit in all humility, a spirit of wisdom and the
heart of a servant. And bless her. Sometimes being 'in power' can also mean
being bereft of blessing.
This
same prayer of course is appropriate for our President and all of Congress and
the Senate. Eyes to see and Ears to
hear---ahem---at Town Meetings and in the wells of the legislature!
Pray
in a spirit of Love, God-confidence and Hope.
What? You say you have none of
these? It's OK, Jesus is our Confidence,
our Love and our Hope. We need Him in
the US more than at any other time in history.
Today,
I ask the Lord to manifest in us in Love, God-confidence, and Hope to fullness!
Washington
looks desolate of hope for the average American. That is a counterfeit reality.
The HOPE for the American people lies within the American people. His Name is Jesus, and I rejoice to say I see
Him now arising. Let HOPE arise and His
enemies be scattered.

In 2003 a Young Author Wrote these Prophetic Words about America:
" The solution for America is very clear. When a nation is ravaged, when there is nothing left, we must fast, pray and unify ourselves as the Body of Christ."
The church in the past several decades has not lived up to the commission of God, and therefore has been a helpless spectator in the downward spiral of American morals and values.
History has proven the assembled prayer and fasting can shape the very account of a community, city or nation.
Through this effectual weapon, we can become the very hinge of history, the pivotal factor in which way the door swings."
When Jason Riley authored America Hope Remains he was not simply writing a chronicle--he was prophesying.
Hold fast to hope, beloved...
The Revolution that was around the corner--- IS HERE.
Love and Jesus,
Kelly
