Fall Kill Watershed Committee Presents: Fall Kill - Then & Now
Tuesday, August 10, 2010 - 4pm - Free and Open to the Public

Fall Kill Then and Now
Join the Fall Kill Watershed Committee for a walk along the Fall Kill and out onto the majestic Walkway over the Hudson. Historian Harvey Flad (author of Main Street to Mainframes: Landscape and Social Change in Poughkeepsie) will describe the Fall Kill's key role in the development of Poughkeepsie.

City Assistant Engineer Joe Chenier will inform the group about Poughkeepsie's modern-day impacts on the creek. Meet at the bridge on the corner of Washington St. and Brookside Ave. Parking is available along the creek side of Brookside Ave. Walk is about 2 miles total.

Free Senior Citizen Picnic
August 11, 2010 - 12pm - Waryas Park

The Dutchess County Office for the Aging invites all City of Poughkeepsie senior citizens (age 60 and over) to join us for a free Chicken Bar-b-que at Waryas Park (North end)!

Reservations are required by August 4th and can be made by calling 486-2555. Space is limited! The picnic is presented with help from the City of Poughkeepsie, TEGFCU, Wingate Healthcare, Frontier Medicare and St. Francis Home Care. Proof of residency is required.

HOME Senior Rehab Program

This program is offered to income eligible  senior citizens (62 years old or older) to improve owner-occupied homes - (one, two or three dwelling unit buildings) by making payment-free grants for minor building repairs.

Public Hearing: One Dutchess Avenue

A continuation of the public hearing for One Dutchess Avenue will be held August 30th, 2010 at 6:00pm, in the Common Council Chambers (3rd Floor, City Hall). PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Common Council of the City of Poughkeepsie will hereby convene a Special Committee of the Whole Workshop on Wednesday July 28, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. in the Common Council Chambers, 3rd Floor, Municipal Building/City Hall, 62 Civic Center Plaza, Poughkeepsie, New York, for the purpose of presenting the release of the new City of Poughkeepsie proposed zoning code.
Online Auction of Abandoned Vehicles
August 2-16, 2010 - Inspections August 11, 9am-12pm

The City of Poughkeepsie will conduct an online auction of abandoned vehicles beginning Monday August 2, 2010 at 9:00 AM and ending Monday, August 16, 2010. The online auctions are scheduled to close in the order they are listed, with items closing sequentially every five minutes, beginning at 6:00 pm. There are 14 items included in this auction.

The auction merchandise can be viewed atwww.auctionsinternational.com, a professional auction company from Buffalo, NY.  Each auction listing contains e-mail contact information to assist interested parties who have questions about the vehicles.

Inspection of vehicles will be from 9:00 AM - 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the DPW complex located at 26 Howard Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

Interested parties can contact the auctioneers directly for more information about the auction process at (800) 536-1401, Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
