Help build the new story

It is remarkable that most of the news available for our consumption is still about business as usual or how business is bad. Neither of these themes is instructive or useful. Nor is it news. The purpose of news is, presumably, to report what is new so we can better participate in society.


That there are people everywhere creating new ways of doing business to make a difference is clear. Yet, this remains a sub story in greater culture.


Culture, it bears repeating, is shaped by the stories we tell. Rather than continuing to consume the stories put before us, we can participate and produce the stories we would like to shape our culture.


Axiom News has little difficulty finding a story a day about people and organizations that are the real news of the day. Among them: Vickie Cammack is a social-purpose entrepreneur who is using business tools to scale grassroots knowledge. Beyond this she is partnering with others to grow the space where social mission and profit meet. Partners like Ashoka, Social Innovation Generation, PLAN Institute and Causeway are doing the same.


Co-ops and employee-owned firms by their very ownership structure are rooting capital in local communities and almost always realize a socially-generative opportunity.
