Business as an Agent of World Benefit
We're talking with participants from the 2009 Business as an Agent of World Benefit (BAWB) Global Forum to find out what they are excited about when it comes to the BAWB movement and what they would like to see happen before the next forum in 2011.
David Cooperrider, forum facilitator, says the old business mindset that corporate social responsibility will cost money and distract from business is being overshadowed by one industry-leading star after another. It is sustainability, he says, that is the business opportunity of this century.
Peter Coughlan, a partner at design consultancy IDEO, co-facilitated large group design sessions at the forum and says bringing together design thinking and Appreciative Inquiry is an exciting development and he's fascinated by the related discussions around sustainability as the current economic challenges drive businesses to restructure.
Traci Fenton, CEO and founder of WorldBlu, presented a workshop at the global forum and says democratic workplaces are essential to being an agent of world benefit.
