Horses Just Wanna Have Fun Goes Country.....
|
We had a blast this summer developing a Mounted Patrol Unit that worked at our little town's first Log Jam Festival. Training began in April. The horses and riders were exposed to some pretty intense objects, including all of our toys & balls, extreme obstacles, a car they had to push, emergency vehicles and fireworks. The festival was fun, we ended up with a team of 18 riders, some members driving 2.5 hours just to be trained. We even managed to get most of the horses under the "big tent" for Cowboy Church on Sunday morning. Everyone on patrol had great views of music artists Montgomery Gentry, Cowboy Troy, Gretchen Wilson and more. Looking forward to next year!!!
Great fun and thanks to all the team members.
Everyone learned that having a solid relationship with their horse and playing with lots of toys really paid off during some extreme situations at the festival. Photos by Jen Allen

| Only in Horseville and "Who is Rude?" |
Clinton Anderson was at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison WI. Anyone who has seen Clinton knows how long winded he can be. Jill & I had to wait in a long line to use the ladies room and finally "an open stall". Guess why it was open? NO toilet paper. So there I sit and all of a sudden from under the next stall comes a wad of TP and a relieving voice saying "I didn't take that one because it had no toilet paper". I laughed and thought "only a horse person would do that".
It reminded me of a cute story. My son was about 2, the age when kids need to pee in restaurants just to see the facilities. So off we go, he does his thing, then he bends over and looks under the stall divider at the poor lady in the next stall. I said "Casey, don't do that, that is RUDE" and pulled him away. What does he do? All the time we were washing hands and walking back to our table he keeps asking "Who is RUDE, I want to see her?". I could have died!
So the the nice woman who passed the paper in Madison - you rock!
