Welcome to the summer edition of our e-newsletter Advocacy in Action! It has been a hot and hazy summer and DBCC is gearing up for lots of great fall events. Look down the left-hand column and check out all the different events from 5Ks to concerts to our Northern Lights of Life gala!

This newsletter has articles about our wonderful volunteers and partnerships that support or programs and services. There is also information about our resale shop, Great Stuff, and the announcement of new DBCC board members.

We encourage you to give us feedback about the articles and information. DBCC & CAMP Rehoboth: A Partnership for Women's Health

CAMP Rehoboth Volunteer Kathy Wiz coordinated this year's first annual "Broadwalk on the Boardwalk" that raised money for DBCC--and was also a ton of fun! Click here to read more.

The Inaugural Race for the Pink Ribbon Women's Only 5K

 

Race for Pink RibbonOn Thursday, September 22, join DBCC for a 5K event - for ladies only! This event starts at 6:30 pm on the Wilmington Riverfront and we're sure we'll be turning the Riverfront PINK to kickoff Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Grab some girlfriends and start training for this 5K! There will be t-shirts, goodie bags, and a post-race party including awards. You can even setup your own personal fundraising page. For more information and to register for this event, click here. Race is presented by Races2Run. Sponsorship opportunities are available.

 

Walk the NASCAR Track at Dover International Speedway!

On Saturday, October 15, join DBCC for the 2nd Annual Monster Miles for a Cause Walk! Grab some friends and walk the track where NASCAR races are held. There will be t-shirts, food, fun, and prizes! The 13th Annual Northern Lights of Life Gala

On Saturday, October 15, DBCC will hold its 13th Annual Northern Lights of Life gala at the picturesque Longwood Gardens. The event will feature gourmet food stations, drinks, exciting live and silent auctions and an upbeat fashion show with local breast cancer survivors modeling. New this year is live entertainment from popular dance band, On the Edge. For more information and reservations, please click here. DBCC Staff attend NBCC's Project LEAD Institute and the Era of Hope Meeting
DBCC Staff members Kelly Kershaw and Caitlin Dalik traveled to sunny California for the National Breast Cancer Coalition's Project LEAD Institute where they learned about the science of breast cancer and even got to tour a research lab! To read more, click here.

 

DBCC Education and Survivorship Program Director Cathy Holloway attended the Era of Hope meeting in Orlando. The meeting brings together researchers, clinicians, and breast cancer advocates who work with the Department of Defense's Breast Cancer Research Program. To read about it, click here


DBCC welcomes seven new members to its Board of Trustees 

The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition welcomed 7 new members to its Board of Trustees in June 2011. They will serve three-year terms. Click here to read more about the new members and the new executive council!
