Education & Outreach in the Latina Community

DBCC held VIDA!, a Latina breast health forum on Saturday, March 19 in Georgetown. This free educational event featured speakers about breast cancer treatment, prevention, and survivorship as well as free health screenings by Beebe Medical Center. Spring is here and DBCC is gearing up for some great events! Be sure to read the list in the left column of upcoming events.
The 14th Annual Breast Cancer Update
On Wednesday, April 13, DBCC will hold its 14th Annual Breast Cancer Update entitled Steps in the Right Direction: Reducing Your Risk for Breast Cancer. Th is free one-day symposium will be held at Dover Sheraton from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. This year's speakers will present the best available evidence on nutrition, physical activity, genetic factors, Vitamin D, hormonal treatments, and surgical approaches. Contact Hours are available for nursing professionals. For more information and to register for this event, click here. The Dover Mile On Thursday, May 5, join DBCC for the 24th Dover Mile presented by the Colonial Rotary Club of Dover. DBCC is forming a team of survivors and friends to walk this one-mile walk in pink t-shirts. In order to be included in this fun event, entry forms and payment must be mailed to DBCC's Dover office by April 25. Click here for the entry form and for more details. The Second Annual DE-feet Breast Cancer 5K Run/Walk On Sunday, Ma y 22, the Second Annual DE-feet Breast Cancer 5K Run/Walk will be held at the Tanger Outlets in Rehoboth. This all-ages, family friendly event will include a 5K timed run, 5K Walk and 1-Mile Fun Walk. There will be music, a Kids Corner, prizes and much more! Sign up today! Event Recap: Southern Lights of Life 2011

The 2011 Southern Lights of Life on Saturday, February 19 at Dover Downs raised over $189,000 and had over 600 attendees thanks to all the wonderful support from our volunteers, board members, partners and sponsors. The event was quite a success and guests were wowed by the performance by Shirley Alston Reeves. Still nothing stole the show quite like the annual fashion show featuring our wonderful breast cancer survivor models.
