Greetings!

g
As Governor Markell proclaims "May is Mammography Month" we hope you will join with him and all of us at DBCC in spreading the word that mammograms save lives.

That message was reinforced by Dr. Len Lichtenfeld, Deputy Chief Medical Officer of the American Cancer Society, recently, when he spoke at Breast Cancer: Before, After & In the Middle - DBCC's 13th Annual Breast Cancer Update. Dr. Lichtenfeld said, "Until a better test comes along, this is the best test we have," and continued, "I don't want to accept the possibility that 30% of women could die because of [suggested] changes to mammography guidelines."

During May is Mammography Month, as we celebrate the mothers in our families, please remember that 70-80% of women who get breast cancer have no family history of the disease. So remember to say those three little words: Get a mammogram!

The staff and board of DBCC want to say two big words to everyone who supported our 1st Annual DE-feet Breast Cancer 5K Run/1M Walk on May 2: THANK YOU! The event was a huge success with 568 registered participants, and it was a beautiful day at Tanger Outlet Center. The event broke a 20-year record for the number of registrations for a first-time run/walk managed by Seashore Strider Event Productions. We look forward to continuing to build this event each year.

We invite you to participate in other upcoming events (listed below), as well, and to visit our website at www.debreastcancer.org for links to breast cancer topics in the news, and breast cancer programs and services here in Delaware. There's also a "DONATE" button on the homepage for making easy online contributions. It's a beautiful way to honor your mother, grandmother, sister or friend for Mother's Day or anytime of the year.

As always, please call us at 866-312-DBCC with any questions or concerns. We're here to help.

Best wishes,
