 Annual Family Preparedness Day

Navy Operational Support Center (NOSC) Portland will host the 2009 Annual Family Preparedness Day Saturday, May 2nd at its facility on Swan Island.
 
Each year this event is held to thank the families for their continued support to our Sailors and the Navy. The main focus is to prepare Navy Reserve Sailors and their families for the difficulties involved when a Sailor deploys in support of the Global War on Terrorism, as well as inform them about the services and benefits to which they are entitled while overseas and at home. 
 
Organizations giving presentations will include:
TRICARE, United Concordia, Military One Source, Department of Labor, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), Oregon Employment Department, Department of Veterans Affairs, Navy Legal Service Office and Military Financial and Family Life counselors.

The International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are an increasingly important part of business for manufacturers and engineering service providers around the United States. Understanding what ITAR means to your firm is no longer an option.

PNDC, in conjunction with the Electronics Manufacturer's Association will be hosting a lunch and learn on Wednesday, March 25th to talk about practical matters surrounding ITAR.

The two hour presentation will include a three member panel with representatives from the industry and the legal world.

SBIR Workshops in Seattle & Vancouver

 Washington Technology Center presents a workshop featuring Jim Greenwood of Greenwood Consulting Group, well-known SBIR/STTR consultants. The session focuses on the cost proposal and accounting for SBIR and STTR awards. It covers basic terms and concepts including direct versus indirect rates, allowable and unallowable costs, cost proposal format variations between Federal agencies, and includes an exercise to estimate the indirect/facilities & administrative rate for your business. The workshop will be offered in the Seattle area March 31 and at Washington State University Vancouver April 1.

Who should attend: CEOs, CFOs, CTOs; Researchers, Universities' Office of Grants & Sponsored Research; CPAs & Yellow Book Auditors

Extra Feature: Pre-registered attendees are eligible for indirect rate calculation review or SBIR / STTR cost proposal critique from Greenwood Consulting Group within one year of attendance. Limited number of consultations available.

Fee: $75 for pre-registrations by 3/27; $85 at the door. Event includes continental breakfast and box lunch.
