Crossroads e-Newsletter
  September 2012
TopGreetings!

Happy Fall and Happy Recovery Month! Last month, we announced major federal funding for our Pregnant and Postpartum Residential Program. Take a look at the article in the Portland Press Herald that features the enhanced treatment program. This month, we've started The Aftercare Group (TAG) for women in Scarborough. We're also sharing some photos from our participation in the Recovery Flash Mob in Portland and the ABA's Charity Golf Tournament.
Crossroads is now offering an aftercare group for women at the Greater Portland Counseling Center in Scarborough.

The Aftercare Group (TAG)
provides supportive aftercare once a week to women who have completed some substance abuse treatment and who are taking action to maintain their sobriety. Themes for the group may include:
  • Interrupting relapse warning signs
  • Healthy relationships
  • Communication
  • Money and self-sufficiency
  • Community
  • Spirituality and service
  • Supportive daily practices
  • Manifesting hopes and dreams
  • Managing stress
  • Sober fun

Andie Wishman, LCSW will be facilitating the group, which meets on Friday evenings from 6:30pm - 8:00pm.

Flash Mobs, Golf Tournaments and Fun
September was a fun month for Crossroads! Our halfway house participated in the Recovery Flash Mob in Portland to celebrate Recovery Month. In addition, we were also part of the annual Auto Buying Assistant's Charity Golf Tournament. Proceeds from the event went to Crossroads and Day One. Thank you to all who participated and supported both community events.
