Crossroads e-Newsletter
  June 2012
TopGreetings!

Wow. Is it already the end of June? Hopefully you are enjoying the summer so far. If you are a golfer, we hope you will join us in September for the ABA Annual Charity Golf Tournament, which will benefit Crossroads and Day One. We're also excited to announce a new 4-week educational group for first time moms.

Our halfway house has started to play softball on a regular basis with other local people in recovery. It's been great! The problem is that we don't have enough softballs or baseball gloves to practice. Do you know of someone who might be able to donate some to us? Please call Nikki at 207-772-1187. Thanks!

New Moving Into Motherhood Educational Group Offered to New Moms

Anasazi Sofware logoCrossroads is excited to start offering a special educational group specifically for first time moms.

The Moving Into Motherhood group provides new moms a place to find support, to share stories and to learn about moving into motherhood. The group will be facilitated by Shelley Walker Rosen, LCPC, LADC, ADTR.

In the group, we'll talk about our pregnancy and birth stories, feelings about being a new mom, the changes in our relationships with our partner, family and friends and much more.

Because, let's face it, babies don't come with instruction manuals, and all moms need extra support after welcoming a baby to the world.

There will be 4 sessions to the group, which will meet on Mondays from 10:30am - 12:00pm at Crossroads' Scarborough location at 71 US Route One, Suite E.

Upcoming Sessions:
July 9, 2012 - July 30, 2012
August 6, 2012 - September 10, 2012 (we will not meet on August 13th or September 3rd)

Fee: $25/session

Crime Rates Up in Maine Due Largely to Prescription Drug Abuse

Though Maine is one of the safest places to live in the US, its crime rate rose by more than 5% in 2011, the largest increase in 36 years. This jump, which also occurred the year before, is in contrast to the rest of the nation.
