A PROUD NIGHT FOR OUR INTERN!
Throughout the last few years I have been very fortunate to have some fantastic Interns who have worked with us here at DBI and Dana Faulks is certainly one of them! I know that she will have a bright future ahead of her. My husband and I had the wonderful opportunity to see Dana's Senior Interior Design Project at Arcadia University on Friday night. Her project was extremely impressive and clearly was the best of those presented! She will be with us for another couple of weeks and then we will sadly have to say goodbye as she heads back home to New Jersey to start her career as an interior designer. Anyone will be lucky to have her! All of us here at DBI wish her the very best!
THAT HOTEL LOOK
When Paige and John were looking for their first place, they didn't want to leave the city and they didn't necessarily want to "settle down". They enjoy the whole experience of travelling. The clean lines and the transitional feel that they found in hotel rooms were very important to them. So... while their new townhome is close to their favorite restaurants and close to work, our challenge was to make it feel like a "get-a-way".
The bedroom is a little on the small side, so we moved the bed in front of the windows and still let filtered light into the room in the morning with sheer fabric covering the windows. At night the panels close on a traverse rod which gives them complete privacy. The walls then have room for the dresser and a mirror and lamps on either side of the bed bring the light down to a cozy level, although still tall enough for easy reading.

A laptop was all that they needed in their home office. The desk could then be open with straight lines. A bold brown stripe around the center of the room actually made the room feel larger while adding interest as well. A houndstooth pattern on the cornice (menswear patterns are all the rage) gave the room some character and softened the window. Fabrics also take the echo out of a room. Notice that the window still lets in plenty of light. The view will be much better when they have a chance to add some plants to their little patio.

You can imagine how happy they are now in their cozy new home. They feel like they are on a permanent vacation!
