DESIGN HOME 2011 UPDATE
Exciting things are happening at the Philadelphia Magazine Design Home this year! We have already selected most of the cabinets from Century Kitchens and Bath. We have selected tiles from Bob Wagners and we are on our way to select hardwood and carpet from Floors USA and granite from Majestic Marble. Last week we visited this beautiful 1920's home in Haverford and it is so charming! I just can't wait to share it with all of you in September. Not only will there be lots of ideas for your home, your ticket will help to support the Ronald Mc Donald House. We have the distinct pleasure of working with all of the fantastic sponsers, and Philadelphia Magazine again this year. And we have truly been enjoying working with Michael Haines from Waverly Construction. I will keep you posted on our progress.
NICHOLAS' ROOM
While 15 year old Nicholas adores his three sisters, he needed to have a place with a little privacy. He is headed to college in a couple of years, and a quiet place to study or hang out with friends is just what we created for him on the third floor.
There is a window in the seating area yet the bedroom space was without natural light. By moving the wall forward a couple of feet we were able to place flouerscent light bulbs behind a plexi screen and bookshelves. We upholstered some of the sheves with a warm texttured material to soften the wall. And there were still plenty of places for pieces that had special meaning to Nicholas.
Sturdy rustic furniture will be perfect for Nicholas for years to come, and will also be perfect for guests anytime. Warm colors with rich rust accents, gave this room a very cozy feel.
There is an office with a built in desk off under the eves and a private bath with warm brown tiles. This is a room that Nicholas will enjoy for many years to come
