Make Your Health Your #1 Priority
Discover
the Path to Better Health
Greetings!
The Nintendo® Wii Sports and Wii Fit video games have been added to our fitness gym. These interactive games are helping our physical therapy patients and fitness clients improve their strength, balance and overall fitness.  So while it's still cold outside, you can play Wii golf or tennis inside.

Most importantly, our staff of trained physical therapists will provide you with instruction in proper body mechanics so you get the maximum benefit from your work-outs.

Current patients and gym members: you are welcome to see a demonstration of how Wii Sports and Fitness video games can be integrated into your therapy or fitness program.  Call today to schedule a demo.

Be well,

The Proven Path to Better Health...

A thinner body, longer life, less stress and overall better health is achievable with a small change to your daily routine!

Yes, exercise for as little as 30 minutes per day for three or four days per week has proven to help people achieve all this!

If watching TV, shopping, grazing on the Internet and talking on the phone are taking up hours of your time each week, then your health may be compromised.

How can Empire Health and Wellness Center help you?
We can provide:

- Physical therapy to treat a problem that hinders your ability to exercise.  Most medical insurance plans cover physical therapy treatment.

- A customized work-out routine that will maximize the 30 minutes or more that you invest in exercise. Our assessment is personalized based upon your physical condition and fitness goals.

- Fitness training sessions with a personal trainer to ensure that you follow through with your good intentions to exercise.  Since no two people are alike, so too, no two fitness routines should be alike.

Call us today at 518-690-4406 if you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment to remedy a physical problem, obtain a work-out routine or enroll in a fitness training session.

Help for Arthritis
woman stretchingOmega-3 fatty acids have been proven to provide relief for various inflammatory symptoms and are considered to be one of the best natural remedies for arthritis. They also work against various symptoms of autoimmune disorders and have been known to provide relief in the treatment of joint pain.

Some common sources of Omega-3 are fish oil tablets, flax oil and flax seed (the latter is delicious sprinkled on cereal or in oatmeal). The Honest Weight Food Co-op, 484 Central Avenue, Albany, NY 12206, sells these products and many other natural foods and supplements.

Their staff is very knowledgeable and willing to offer guidance and information. Visit their web site or call 482-2267.

NOTE: Please check with your doctor before taking any supplements, especially if you have any medical conditions and/or are taking medications.
Managing Vertigo: A Patient Profile
Two years ago Charlene Reynolds, a 56 year-old retired New York State employee, came to us with positional vertigo symptoms that were hindering her ability to fully enjoy her retirement and perform household tasks.  Charlene became fearful because "...these symptoms also interfered with my ability to drive a car and care for my grandchildren."  She previously treated her dizziness with medications, but her physician, Dr. Jacquelyn Bennett, recommended vestibular physical therapy with Brendan Sullivan at Empire Health & Wellness Center.

Charlene reports, "I have benefited immensely from physical therapy. I am now able to walk, drive, perform daily housework and fully participate in the care of my grandchildren. I would highly and unconditionally recommend the staff at Empire Health & Wellness Center."

If you, or someone you know, is experiencing vertigo or dizziness, then consider speaking to us about how physical therapy can be a safe alternative to prescription drugs.
