Sermon: What A Difference A Day Makes
This Sunday marks the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. As we gather together for worship, we will take a moment to remember those who lost their lives that day, honor the heroes who gave their lives in service to others, and pray for all the families and friends of those who lost loved ones.
Scripture recalls the history of the Hebrew people, how they had escaped slavery in Egypt. God commanded the Hebrews to celebrate that great passover night annually, to recognize what a difference this day made in the history of the Hebrews.
September 11 is a day that is marked as a day set apart in history for us as Americans and others in our world alive today. Scripture reminds us that no matter what happens, no matter what tragedy or difficulty we may face, God is with us. What a difference a day makes.
As September 11 has been named a National Day of Service, we invite you to come and be a part of FaithWorks on Saturday September 10. We gather in the Jones Narthex at 8:00 for breakfast and a devotional and then we go out in the community to serve from 9:00 to 12:00. The options include making Joy House lunches or volunteering at UMCS, Northcott Neighborhood House, or Repairers of the Breach. FaithWorks is family friendly, but childcare is provided if desired. Hope to see you then.
After the 10:30 service Sunday, everyone is invited to join us for all the activities outside for Taste of the Bay. This is an excellent time to invite a friend or neighbor to join you at church. We look forward to seeing you in worship. 1 Thessalonians 4:10-12
