5 LESSONS FROM FAITH TO TAKE INTO THE WORKPLACE

1 Thessalonians 4:10-12

Many times we think that our personal lives and our work lives and our spiritual lives are all three separate from one another. This is a false assumption however. This weekend, as we celebrate Labor in our country, we will look at 5 particular lessons from our faith that we can carry confidently into our workplace.

Paul supported himself as a tent maker while on his missionary journeys. Jesus was a carpenter's son and most likely worked as a stone mason. Let us not forget what hard work can teach us, and molds us into the workers we are called to be in the Lord. Don't forget to invite a friend this weekend. See you in worship!

Considering What It Means to Live in THE KINGDOM OF GOD

Church members are asked to invite and accompany a friend, neighbor, or colleague - anyone curious about the Christian faith or this local church-to attend Entrée this fall. It will be offered in conjunction with Wednesday Night Live. Beginning September 14th, nine evenings with a short slide presentation and lively, open-ended conversation. No question will be too basic or in any way unacceptable during this wide-ranging consideration of traditional and emerging approaches to the Christian faith.

The Academy of Lay Leadership is designed for potential servant leaders to be personally mentored by the Senior Pastor for the high calling of growing persons as deeply committed followers of Jesus Christ who LOVE God, CARE for each other and SERVE in the world.

Those who have received an invitation to the academy who have not yet responded to Pastor Susan, please do so soon. All members of the congregation are welcome to apply to the Academy of Lay Leadership.

Our goal is to equip people to be servant leaders in the church, workplace and the greater community. Brochures and applications are available in the Jones Narthex. For more information on participating in the Academy, contact Pastor Susan or Nell Nash at nnash@umcwfb.org.

COMING THIS FALL - THINK ORANGE!

ORANGE? What's ORANGE you ask? ORANGE is a secondary color, created when you combine two primary colors - red and yellow. ORANGE is a path, a strategy that combines the strength of two-yellow and red-to create the brilliance of another, Orange. By combining the critical influences of the light of the church and the love of the family, the Orange strategy synchronizes efforts and shows a generation who God is, more effectively than either could alone. Watch for more about ORANGE this fall!
