Now faith, hope and love abide, but the greatest of these is love.

This Weekend, June 11/12
Marriage:  What God Has Joined Together
Genesis 2.18-25

June used to be known as the month for weddings.  In our congregation, we host more weddings in the fall than the summer.   The Discipline of the United Methodist Church says this about marriage:

We affirm the sanctity of the marriage covenant that is expressed in love, mutual support, personal commitment, and shared fidelity between a man and a woman.  We believe that God's blessing rests upon such a marriage, whether or not there are children of the union.

In God's eyes, marriage is so much more than a legal contract or societal act.  Marriage is sacred and blessed by God.  What does that mean? This weekend we will look at God's design and purpose for marriage.

We are also going to have a lot of fun.  We will honor and recognize the marriage of couples.  We will have a wedding reception in the Jones Narthex for all.  There will be plenty of wedding pictures and gowns on display from members and friends of the congregation too!  Susan and Rich Batchelder, members of our congregation and State Executives for Marriage Encounter will be available with information about many ministries that support marriage as well as announcing the dates of an upcoming adult offering, Making Love Last a Lifetime.

If you know of a couple who desires to strengthen their marriage, please invite them to join you in worship this weekend.

Faithworks

Saturday, June 11th

8 am - Incredible and amazing Breakfast

9 am - Serve in the World

The book of James tells us that if we have faith, we have works.  Our service is a natural response to the grace that God gives to us through Jesus Christ.  We have lots of opportunities this weekend:

1.  Northcott Neighborhood House:    Outdoor yardwork

2.  Repairers of the Breach:  Sister has been on medical leave.  The "store" with clothing and toiletry donations needs lots of sorting and help.  A bonus is being able to see the new building and health clinic that serves in the homeless in Milwaukee.

3.  Agape:  The kitchen which serves meals to those in need is in great need of cleaning.  We also support this ministry as it is one of our monthly meal program sites we staff with volunteers.

4. Playground :  Our church's playground is in need of 5 additional inches of 'mulch.'  Come and help move the blue rubber chips from Pastor Wiley's driveway to the playground.  Great opportunity for children and youth.

SPECIAL EVENT!!!!   Our Holly Morse, coordinator of FaithWorks has been named the recipient of the  Thelma W. Gregg Memorial Fund Award for outstanding mission through the United Methodist Church.  We will celebrate during breakfast this weekend Holly being named to receive this award.  As Holly says, "I am receiving this on behalf of all FaithWorkers who make this possible."

If you have never been to FaithWorks, why not make June your first time?  You do not have to RSVP, just come!  There is also childcare available for the wee little ones.

camp

It's here!!  CHURCH CAMP at Camp Lucerne starts this Sunday, June 12.

Children and youth wait all year for this annual tradition started by Nancy Anderson and Linda Stoltz.  This year's camp will be directed by Amy Mason, Lisa Lyons and Lori Aeschbacher along with Eric Rose, Neil Bubke, Dana Saxton and Pastor Susan.

This year's them, "Turn Around"  will focus on the many ways we need to turn toward Jesus to be able to walk on the path he leads us on.  Plan on being present June 19 at 9am as the campers lead worship.  Take a moment this coming week to pray for all the leaders who will share their faith and for the campers as they grow in faith.

Wisconsin Annual Conference

June 12-15

Wisconsin Dells

The annual meeting of the Wisconsin Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church will begin this Sunday.  All clergy are members of the Annual Conference.  We also elect lay delegates to attend Annual Conference.  Those attending this year include lay members:  Mary Anne Balmer, Cynthia Boock, and Mary Lou Taylor.  Pastors Susan, Wiley, Gerry and Dick Jones and Don Francis attend as clergy members.  Richard Whitaker, Diaconal Minister, has his membership as a lay equalization member.

The central focus of this year's annual conference is the election of delegates to the 2012 Jurisdictional and General Conferences and the consideration of multiple resolutions to forward to these Conferences.  Please pray for all who attend Annual Conferences and the work of the Holy Spirit to be with them as we seek to strengthen the denomination and Christ's Church.
