Young people want to send a message to United Methodists: They are not the church of tomorrow but are the church today.

During these spring weekends we will take a look at a variety of issues related to family.  We will look to scripture and the traditions of the church to help us grow in our own situations and circumstances to understand more fully how to support and encourage others who are in situations differing from ourselves. May 21/22              YOUTH:  THE CHURCH OF TODAY

                               Confirmation Weekend

Have you ever wondered what plans God has in store for you?  Our purpose is spoke of several times throughout scripture.  Psalm 139 reminds us that God has wonderfully made us!  Jeremiah, the Confirmation class scripture, reminds us that God wants good for us.  Ephesians 2.10 tells us that God wants us to do good works in Christ.
All three are absolutely wonderful scripture passages that remind us of our worth in God's eyes and God expects us to do great things for Him at any age.  He blesses us and equips us with all we need.

This weekend we welcome 16 young people into our congregation.  They have studied for two years.  They are a bright and joyful group who are eager to become full members of this congregation!  They will be introduced at 9 am and confirmed at 10:30 am.  There will be confirmands at 5 and 8 sharing their faith statements.  Come and welcome them into the life of our congregation!

Stewardship Campaign Update

The Stewardship Campaign Follow Up Team has been making phone calls to those who have not turned in their commitment to giving and serving cards.  It has been a wonderful experience to connect with members of this congregation.  The team will begin their second round of calls this Sunday, May 22.  If you have not turned in your commitment card, please do it as soon as you can.  You can also complete your card online,  by clicking here.

As of May 17, we have received 275 cards for a total of $735,262.  The average financial commitment is $2674.  This average amount is higher than any average for at least the last five years.  It is truly a blessing that so many of you have been able to increase your commitments.

However, we are running behind in the number of commitments that we have received.  We are 51 commitments behind last year and 25 commitments behind two years ago at this time in the campaign.  The most significant reason for not being able to pledge has been  unemployment. 23 known persons/families in our congregation have been unemployed for over a year. One of the ways in which we live out our life together is with our financial support.  There are seasons and times in our lives when each of us can give a little more and times when we can't give as much.  When we give to God's glory and to accomplish God's purposes by offering our best we certainly do wonderful things.

Annual Church Conference Potluck and Meeting

May 23, 2011

6 PM, Fellowship Hall

Our annual church conference is next Monday, May 23.  All members and friends of our congregation are welcome to attend.  All members may vote on anything that is before us.

The annual church conference meeting is the time when we gather to hear about the state of our church, remember that we are connected to the United Methodist Church through the Wisconsin Annual Conference, celebrate what we have accomplished and recognize that God still expects a lot of us in the future, vote on issues that are pertinent to our church right now and vote on issues that need to be voted on per the polity of our denomination.

The agenda for this meeting has already been set.  You may pick up a copy of the agenda for the meeting in the church office at any time.  The booklets that hold all of our annual reports are nearing completion and will be available to be picked up before the meeting as well.

Childcare will be provided.  Children are welcome to be part of the meal.  You may RSVP in the church office or through the JOY Notes.
