-What have been the unexpected blessings of growing older?
-What have been the challenges associated with growing older?
-How has your faith changed as you have grown older?
-What has been an important piece of advice someone has given you about growing older?
-What piece of advice or wisdom would you like to share with younger generations?
As you prepare for worship this weekend, how would you answer these questions?
One of the greatest asessts of our congregation is that we are truly intergenerational. There are persons from all stages of life that are a part of our church family. People like that.
This is not true of most United Methodist churches. I hear stories of people lamenting every week that they do not have young people. A friend of mine served a congregation that didn't have any older people. What I think that our having all generations says about us is that we are willing to be flexible and open and willing to help others from a different generation than ourselves find a home within this Body.
This week we are only going to scratch the service on growing older with grace. Joan Chittister says "The moment that we become conscious that we are no longer young,we become an even more valuable resource to others in our lives than we ever were before." Come and join us this weekend as we reflect upon growing older and growing with the wisdom and grace God offers to each of us.
Maybe you know an older adult who does not have a church home and is living by themselves or have just moved into the area. Take a moment and invite them to come with you.
This will also be an exciting weekend as we will hear from the Honduras mission team who just returned and receive new members at 10:30 am.
See you in church this weekend!
