 Thought for the Day:

Let us not be satisfied with just giving money. Money is not enough, money can be got, but they need your hearts to love them. So, spread your love everywhere you go.

-Mother Theresa

Sermon Series: 29 Days of Giving

During this season of Lent, we are focusing on the spiritual discipline of giving and how we can give to God in response to what God has given to us.  We will be reading a book, 29 Gifts, and encouraging every adult, youth, and child to give something to another every day for 29 days.  We are also encouraging everyone to take note of God's blessings each and every day.  This time will culminate April 10th with our Commitment Weekend and the giving of our gifts of service and giving to God through this church.

March 26/27: REMEMBER TO SHARE

Luke 22:14-20

The act of eating together cemented Jesus' fellowship with his disciples, the crowds, and the outcasts in Galilee on various occasions, and Luke more than any other gospel emphasizes the meal scenes of Jesus' ministry. By eating with the outcasts, Jesus had tangibly demonstrated his solidarity with them. He had received from them and given to them, he had publicly crossed the social barriers that divided the righteous from the outcasts, and he had physically embodied the love of God for the despised.

The experience of the Lord's Supper spans the breadth of God's love; the depth of Jesus' sufferings; and the past, present, and future of God's mighty acts. The challenge for the believer is not that we grasp the full potential of its meaning but that we open ourselves to the full extent of its power to change us. What then shall we do after we eat together? Give of ourselves for others for the glory of God.

Come and join us this weekend.  Bring a friend.

Blessings,

Pastor Wiley Gladney

P.S.  Be sure to bring your leaf with you and hang it on our Giving Tree as a sign of your commitment to join with others to practice giving for 29 days.  If you did not receive a leaf or need several others go to http://www.umcwfb.org/_Ministries/stewardship/stewardship_Resources.htm

The Story Project

Pastor Wiley is working with Braden Bjella to collect personal stories of giving and receiving during the 29 Days of Giving.  These stories will be shared on our website, at our all church potluck, in worship and even possibly a book.  We will be recording written stories, hearing oral stories and videotaping stories.

Braden will be video tapping stories before and after services this Sunday, March 27. If you have a story of when a gift had a meaningful impact on your life, e-mail Pastor Wiley at pastorgladney@umcwfb.org.

Stories will be posted on the Stewardship Webpage under "Story Project." http://www.umcwfb.org/_Ministries/stewardship/stewardship_StoryProject.htm

Honduras Mission

Donations Needed

The Honduras Mission Team is asking for donations of prenatal and children's vitamins. We are also looking to collect silicon potholders to give to the families for whom we build stoves.  We'll need about 32. A box for the donations is located in the church office. Trip dates:  May 1 through May 8.

The team will build stoves used for cooking indoors.  These will be smokeless stoves to replace open fire cooking appliances currently used.  Many people are cooking without proper ventilation and causing respiratory problems for the family. Each stove costs about $150. We will also be providing Fluoride treatment for kid's teeth --We will paint the treatment on teeth and check for dental concerns. All donations are appreciated.
