Sermon Series: 29 Days of Giving

The Lenten season is 40 days in length (excluding Sundays) to model the 40 days Jesus spent in the wilderness.  As Jesus spent time growing in understanding God's will, Lent is a time for us to grow as Jesus' disciples.  The journey of Lent moves from the baptism of Jesus to his ministry to the crucifixion and ultimately to the resurrection.  We reflect, in this season, on how Jesus gave of himself and ultimately of his life for us.

During this season of Lent, we are focusing on the spiritual discipline of giving and how we can give to God in response to what God has given to us.  We will be reading a book, 29 Gifts, and encouraging every adult, youth, and child to give something to another every day for 29 days.  We are also encouraging everyone to take note of God's blessings each and every day.  This time will culminate April 10th with our Commitment Weekend and the giving of our gifts of service and giving to God through this church.

March 12/13: 29 Days of Giving

Luke 6:38; 2 Corinthians 9:6-12

This weekend we are delighted to welcome Cami Walker, author of 29 Gifts.  Cami will be with us in all three of the Sunday morning worship services to share her story and what the act of giving and generosity did to change her life.  Throughout Jesus ministry he taught that the way to find the abundant life was to give one's self to others.

Come and join us this weekend.  Bring a friend.

Blessings,

Pastor Susan

P.S.  Be sure to bring your leaf with you and hang it on our Giving Tree as a sign of your commitment to join with others to practice giving for 29 days.  If you did not receive a leaf or need several others go to www.umcwfb.org/stewardship/resources

Galatians 6:2
