 Thought for the Day:

"Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, to all the souls you can, in every place you can, at all the times you can, with all the zeal you can, as long as ever you can"

February 26/27  :  METHODISM FOR TODAY

                              THE PRACTICES OF A METHODIST

                                I Peter 1.13-16; I Peter 2:1-3

John Wesley, the founder of Methodism believed that a life of service to the world was the fruit of a heart touched by Christ. He is quoted as saying "I look upon all the world as my parish" meaning that wherever he was he was to serve God in ministry to Jesus Christ. He did this not only by preaching, teaching and administering the sacraments, but also by serving the poor, the afflicted and visiting those in prison.

We have looked at the faith of a Methodist and the character of a Methodist, now we will discuss what practices should flow from having a character shaped by faith in God through Jesus Christ. It makes no difference what we believe as Methodists, and it doesn't matter what our character is, if the world does not see them displayed by our practices.

Please invite a friend to join you in worship as we close our series on Methodism. Next week is youth Sunday and Ash Wednesday ushers in  Lent on March 9.  Then we kick off our 2011 stewardship campaign on March 13 with Cami Walker in worship Sunday morning and returning that evening for a community workshop. See the article below for more information on our 29 Days of Giving campaign.

God Bless and see you in worship.
