 Thought for the Day:

Everyday holds the possibility of a miracle.

MIRACLES:  GOD'S ACTS OF WONDER

I often get asked, "Does God still perform miracles?"  I believe that God still is in the business of performing miracles and that they are all around us. Over the next two weeks, we will look at a few of the miracles that God has worked.

January 29/30  :  MIRACLES:  GOD'S ACTS OF WONDER

                             A HEART THAT HEARS US

                             Mark 10.46-52

In the January 14 Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel an article lifted up the funeral of 9 year old Christina Green who was killed in the Tucson shooting.  In the article, Rep. Gabrielle Gifford's neurosurgeon was interviewed.  Dr. Michael Lemole smiled when asked if Gifford's recovery was a miracle.  He said Miracles happen every day.  In medicine, we like to very much attribute them to either what we do or others do around us.  But a lot of medicine is outside of our control, and we're wise to acknowledge miracles.

Miracles.  Do you believe in them?  This weekend we are going to look at miracles in the Bible and miracles in our world.  In preparation for worship this weekend, I invite you to read the scripture from Mark and reflect on some of the following questions.

Do you believe in miracles?

Have you experienced a miracle?

Do you know someone who has experienced a miracle?

Have you ever prayed for a miracle?

Have you received a miracle in your life or in the life of someone you know as a result of prayer?

Do you believe that the miracles of Jesus really happened?

How would you define a miracle?

I am looking forward to worship this weekend.  I hope you are too.
See you in church!
Pastor Susan

 Young Couple's Group

Game Night & Potluck

Friday, January 28
5 - 8 PM, Fellowship Hall

We would like to establish a new couple's fellowship group in our congregation for young couples and parents of young children. To kick off this new endeavor we will be hosting a potluck dinner/game night on January 28th 5-8pm in the church Fellowship Hall (come and go as your schedule allows).

We ask that you bring a dish to share and a game. Pizza will be provided for the children. During our time together we will present a few books we are considering for our couple's fellowship and we will discuss what time would best work for us to meet.

Be sure to RSVP to pastorgladney@umcwfb.org by the 26th so we know how many to expect and child care needs.

 TAIZE WORSHIP

Friday, February 4
7:30 PM, Sanctuary
The heart of Taizé prayer reflects a quiet, peaceful receptivity before God. Musicians, singers, and liturgists lead with a minimal sense of being in the spotlight, in that they are either not seen in center front, or are scattered throughout the assembly. In this way, individuals feel a more direct communion with God. The Taizé prayer, "Between ourselves and God there is no between" echoes this spirit and symbolism.

Walk the prayer Labyrinth downstairs in fellowship hall before the service beginning at 6:30.
